RAST atopy screen

Clinical & Experimental Allergy, 1978
SummaryA single in vitro screening test for atopic allergy is described. It uses the radioallergosorbent test (RAST) principle, and has been applied to screening sera from U.K. patients with possible atopic symptoms. When compared with the Phadebas RAST, the test sensitivity was 97% and the specificity 100%, and these results suggest that it is useful ...

Species-specific shrimp allergens: RAST and RAST-inhibition studies

Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology, 1989
Two edible shrimp species are widely available in Louisiana, Penaeus setifecus (white shrimp) and Penaeus aztecus (brown shrimp). Some sensitive individuals report only occasional allergic symptoms after shrimp ingestion, suggesting that there may be species-specific allergens.

Comparative Evaluation of the Multiple RAST and Discrete RAST for Inhalant Allergy

Allergy, 1986
With the conventional, discrete RAST various tests are required to detect IgE of different specificities in the same serum. To overcome this problem and to reduce the costs, a multiple RAST with seven different mixtures was compared with the individual mixture constituents and with the 12 individual allergens currently in use in our department.

Using the Metagenomics RAST Server (MG-RAST) for Analyzing Shotgun Metagenomes

Cold Spring Harbor Protocols, 2010
INTRODUCTIONShotgun metagenomics creates millions of fragments of short DNA reads, which are meaningless unless analyzed appropriately. The Metagenomics RAST server (MG-RAST) is a web-based, open source system that offers a unique suite of tools for analyzing these data sets.

What can be measured with rast?

Journal of Immunological Methods, 1976
A theoretical study of the basic principles involved in Radioallergosorbent test (RAST) showed that: 1) When a given serum is tested, the significance of the numerical value obtained with RAST depends upon the serum assayed and the allergosorbent preparation, in a rather unpredictable way.

[The "rubtest" and RAST].

Zeitschrift fur Hautkrankheiten, 1979
The "rubtest" to induce an immediate reaction with various inhalative and ingestive allergens has proved to be a very reliable, easily demonstrable and extremely simple method for detection of allergy-type I, especially of the "highest-sensitivity-type".
