Recently a new rat model for type 2 diabetes the Zucker diabetic Sprague-Dawley (ZDSD/Pco) was created. In this study we sought to characterize the development of diabetic neuropathy in ZDSD rats using age-matched Sprague-Dawley rats as a control.

Dysfunctional play and dopamine physiology in the Fischer 344 rat
Juvenile Fischer 344 rats are known to be less playful than other inbred strains, although the neurobiological substrate(s) responsible for this phenotype is uncertain.

Enhanced self-administration of the CB1 receptor agonist WIN55,212-2 in olfactory bulbectomized rats: evaluation of possible serotonergic and dopaminergic underlying mechanisms [PDF]
Depression has been associated with drug consumption, including heavy or problematic cannabis use. According to an animal model of depression and substance use disorder comorbidity, we combined the olfactory bulbectomy (OBX) model of depression with ...

Pharmacokinetic data of synthetic cathinones in female Sprague-Dawley rats
The synthetic cathinones methylone, butylone, and pentylone differ from each other through the one carbon lengthening of the α-alkyl chain: methylone (-CH3), butylone (-CH2CH3), and pentylone (-CH2CH2CH3) while 3,4-methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA ...

Differential Behavioral Responses to\ud Cocaethylene of Long-Evans and\ud Sprague-Dawley Rats: Role of Serotonin [PDF]
Cocaethylene is a neuroactive metabolite derived from the concurrent consumption of cocaine and ethanol. The effects of cocaethylene on locomotor activity, stereotypy, and rearing in Long-Evans and Sprague-Dawley rats were compared.A single cocaine ...

Ovarian Neoplasia in the Sprague-Dawley Rat [PDF]
Macroscopic and microscopic characteristics of 210 spontaneous ovarian tumors from 7748 Sprague-Dawley rats are described. The tumors were classified as tubular adenoma, anaplastic adenocarcinoma, papillary cystadenoma, papillary cystadenocarcinoma, mesothelioma, sertoliform tubular adenoma, Sertoli's cell tumor, granulosa cell tumor, thecal cell tumor,

We present a tissue‐stimulator platform for seamless electrode integration with pancreatic tissue, applying uniform electrical stimulation through optimized design with biohybrid 3D printing. Advantageous effects of electrical stimulation on β‐cell function were observed, including enhanced calcium signaling, islet morphology, and maturation.
