Modeling Reveals the Dependence of Hippocampal Neurogenesis Radiosensitivity on Age and Strain of Rats [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Cognitive dysfunction following radiation treatment for brain cancers in both children and adults have been correlated to impairment of neurogenesis in the hippocampal dentate gyrus.

Cutaneous Hybrid Cyst in a Sprague-Dawley Rat

open access: yesJournal of Toxicologic Pathology, 2012
This report describes a spontaneous hybrid cyst in a Sprague-Dawley (SD) rat. A 52-week-old, male SD rat had a cutaneous cyst on the left mystacial pad. Histologically, the cyst wall showed infundibular differentiation with keratohyalin granules in the granular layer and matrical differentiation comprising basaloid epithelial cells with trichohyalin ...

Chemopreventive Properties and Toxicity of Kelulut Honey in Sprague Dawley Rats Induced with Azoxymethane

open access: yesBioMed Research International, 2016
Ethnopharmacological Relevance. Colon cancer has been a major problem worldwide. Kelulut honey (KH) is produced by the stingless bees from Trigona species and has strong antioxidant activities that could be one of the potential chemopreventive agents ...

On Internal and External Alignment of Dust Grains in Protostellar Environments [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
We study the physical processes inducing the alignment of the grain axis of maximum inertia moment with the angular momentum (${\bf J}$, i.e., internal alignment) and of ${\bf J}$ with the magnetic field (i.e., external alignment) of very large grains (VLGs, of radius $a>10\mu$m) using the grain alignment framework based on radiative torques (RATs) and

Antihyperlipidemic effect of Berberis orthobotrys in hyperlipidemic animal models

open access: yesBangladesh Journal of Pharmacology, 2014
The present study was undertaken to evaluate antihyperlipidemic effect of aqueous methanolic extract of Berberis orthobotrys in experimentally induced hyperlipidemic animal models. Atorvastatin was used as standard drug.

Effects of cocaethylene on dopamine and serotonin synthesis in Long–Evans and Sprague–Dawley brains [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
We examined the behavioral and neurochemical effects of cocaethylene treatment in Long–Evans ( LE). and Sprague–Dawley (SD) rats. Cocaethylene-induced behaviors were significantly less in LE rats.

Spontaneous Complex Odontoma in a Sprague-Dawley Rat.

open access: yesJournal of Veterinary Medical Science, 2002
Complex odontoma from a female Sprague-Dawley rat is described histopathologically. Necropsy revealed a hard (bony), white mass (3.0 x 3.0 x 2.1 cm) on the left mandible. Microscopically, the mass consisted of islands or nests of epithelial and mesenchymal elements that formed abortive tooth structures.

Toxicity Evaluation of Graphene Oxide in Kidneys of Sprague-Dawley Rats

open access: yesInternational Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health, 2016
Recently, graphene and graphene-related materials have attracted a great deal of attention due their unique physical, chemical, and biocompatibility properties and to their applications in biotechnology and medicine. However, the reports on the potential

Characterization of Diabetic Neuropathy in the Zucker Diabetic Sprague-Dawley Rat: A New Animal Model for Type 2 Diabetes

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes Research, 2014
Recently a new rat model for type 2 diabetes the Zucker diabetic Sprague-Dawley (ZDSD/Pco) was created. In this study we sought to characterize the development of diabetic neuropathy in ZDSD rats using age-matched Sprague-Dawley rats as a control.

Neuroinflammatory targets and treatments for epilepsy validated in experimental models [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
A large body of evidence that has accumulated over the past decade strongly supports the role of inflammation in the pathophysiology of human epilepsy.
