Polygonum multiflorum water extract protects against nitric oxide by LPS-induced in RAW 264.7 macrophages

open access: yes, 2017
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of Polygonum multiflorum Water Extract (PMWE) on the production of inflammatory mediators in RAW 264.7 mouse macrophages induced by Lipopolysaccharide (LPS).

Herbal Therapeutics in Osteoporosis: Mechanisms, Evidence, and Translational Potential

open access: yesPhytotherapy Research, EarlyView.
Schematic overview of bone remodeling dysregulation in osteoporosis and the multi‐target protective role of herbal therapeutics. ABSTRACT Osteoporosis is a chronic bone disease marked by reduced density and increased fracture risk. Current treatments face limitations in safety, efficacy, and long‐term adherence, prompting interest in alternative ...

Ajugol Improves Liver Fibrosis by Modulating Bile Acid and Arachidonic Acid Metabolism in Mice

open access: yesPhytotherapy Research, EarlyView.
Ajujol ameliorates hepatic fibrosis by regulating bile acid metabolism and suppressing inflammatory responses. ABSTRACT Ajugol (AJ), the primary component extracted from the root of Rehmannia glutinosa, exhibits protective effects against metabolic dysregulation and chronic inflammation.

Protein Corona Engineering of Lipid Nanoparticles Enables Efficient Functional Gene Silencing in the Liver

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
By shaping the protein corona, lipid composition directs LNP tropism and enables the preferential delivery of a TIMP1‐targeting siRNA to liver macrophages. In a murine model of primary biliary cholangitis, this strategy promoted macrophage reprogramming and attenuated liver fibrosis.

Safeguarding the Photoluminescence of Silver Sulfide Nanocrystals in Biological Environments via Silica Shielding

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
Interactions with biomolecules can alter the photoluminescence of Ag2S nanocrystals, undermining near‐infrared imaging and thermometry. Incorporation into dendritic silica minimizes these interactions and preserves emission intensity, spectral response, and lifetime in plasma and whole blood. This shielding enables more reliable imaging and temperature

Detection and Inhalation Hazard Assessment of Wear Particles Arising From Abrasion of Market‐relevant Graphene Reinforced Composites

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
Abrasion of few‐layer graphene (FLG)–epoxy composites generated respirable particles in which FLG remained fully embedded, as confirmed by correlative HR‑TEM, Raman, and ToF‑SIMS analyses. Advanced lung cell models revealed no cytotoxic or inflammatory responses, and only high‑dose epoxy particles reduced mucociliary clearance.

Extracellular vesicles in pharmacology: Innovations in drug delivery and therapeutic applications in cancer

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Extracellular vesicles (EVs) are a diverse population of membrane nanoparticles secreted by nearly all cell types, playing a key role in intercellular communication by transferring bioactive macromolecular cargo. In cancer, EVs shape both the local tumour microenvironment and distant premetastatic niches.
