Unclonable Optical Fiber Identification Based on Rayleigh Backscattering Signatures
We report a concept of using Rayleigh backscattering signature based unclonable optical fiber identification (OFID) for security-based applications. Due to the inherent manufacturing features of optical fibers, the random Rayleigh backscattering pattern ...

Rayleigh Backscattering in Few-Mode Optical Fibers
Optical Fiber Communication Conference, 2016We measure inter-modal Rayleigh backscattering in few-mode optical fibers and compare the experimental results with simulation results obtained from newly-developed analytical formulae. Excellent agreement between theory and experiment allows investigation of mode-coupling dynamics using OTDR.

Non-Rayleigh statistics of ultrasonic backscattered signals
IEEE Transactions on Ultrasonics, Ferroelectrics and Frequency Control, 1994The statistics of the envelope of the backscattered signal from tissues have been known to vary from the well-known Rayleigh model. The K-distribution is used to model this non-Rayleigh behavior, since the generalized K-distribution encompasses a wide range of distributions like Rayleigh, Lognormal, and Rician. Computer simulations were conducted using
