Probing the Nuclear Symmetry Energy with Heavy Ion Collisions
Heavy Ion Collisions (HIC) represent a unique tool to probe the in-medium nuclear interaction in regions away from saturation. In this report we present a selection of new reaction observables in dissipative collisions particularly sensitive to the ...

The LINC01116 long noncoding RNA is induced by hypoxia and associated with poor prognosis and high recurrence rates in two cohorts of lung adenocarcinoma patients. Here, we demonstrate that besides its expression in cancer cells, LINC01116 is markedly expressed in lymphatic endothelial cells of the tumor stroma in which it participates in hypoxia ...

Large Eddy Simulation Analysis on Confined Swirling Flows in a Gas Turbine Swirl Burner
This paper describes a Large Eddy Simulation (LES) investigation into flow fields in a model gas turbine combustor equipped with a swirl burner. A probability density function was used to describe the interaction physics of chemical reaction and ...

Modeling of Redox Reaction in Glass Melt and Its Effect on Glass Flow
A new mathematical model is developed to solve transport of FeO with an apparent redox reaction coupled with a model of thermal convection in a glass tank furnace. A numerical method is proposed to calculate the distribution of FeO with a non-equilibrium reaction in a flow field.

The Influence Of Neutron Capture Rates On The Rare Earth Region Of The r-Process Abundance Pattern
We study the sensitivity of the r-process abundance pattern to neutron capture rates along the rare earth region (A~150 to A~180). We introduce the concepts of large nuclear flow and flow saturation which determine the neutron capture rates that are ...

ATF4‐mediated stress response as a therapeutic vulnerability in chordoma
We screened 5 chordoma cell lines against 100+ inhibitors of epigenetic and metabolic pathways and kinases and identified halofuginone, a tRNA synthetase inhibitor. Mechanistically halofuginone induces an integrated stress response, with eIF2alpha phosphorylation, activation of ATF4 and its target genes CHOP, ASNS, INHBE leading to cell death ...

We present an adaptive variational procedure for unstructured meshes to capture fluid-fluid interfaces in two-phase flows. The two phases are modeled by the phase-field finite element formulation, which involves the conservative Allen-Cahn equation ...
