The Rear Suspension Equilibrium
2013This chapter aims at defining the equations that govern the rear suspension in term of the overall equilibrium and loads applied for different conditions of the motorbike motion. The formulae are useful for designing a rear suspension made by a unique arm which connects the frame pin with the wheel axle.

Tobacco Consumption in Swedish Twins Reared Apart and Reared Together
Archives of General Psychiatry, 2000Prior studies of twins reared together suggest that regular tobacco use (RTU) is substantially heritable. Thermoregulatory heat production in cold-reared and warm-reared pigs
American Journal of Physiology-Regulatory, Integrative and Comparative Physiology, 1983Pigs were reared from 2 wk of age in either 10 or 35 degrees C and fed ad libitum. At 8 wk of age they were tested for the presence of regulatory nonshivering thermogenesis by administration of norepinephrine (NE) and propranolol. In addition, an electromyogram and carotid temperature, as well as a heat flow and skin temperature from one site, were ...

Thymic stress in artificially reared and maternally reared rat pups
Physiology & Behavior, 2000It is well documented that the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis influences immunological responses to stress. Maternal factors have been shown to be necessary for appropriate modulation of the HPA axis in the developing rat. The purpose of this study was to determine whether artificially reared (AR) infant rat pups (a procedure whereby infant ...
