SLOW AND FAST DRYING IN SEEDS OF Ocotea puberula (Rich.) Ness
The objective of this work was to evaluate the influence of types of drying on seeds' quality, as recalcitrant, Ocotea puberula and determine their degree of critical humidity and lethal degree. Seeds harvested in Brunópolis, SC, with an initial moisture

Engineering glyphosate‐resistant watermelon by prime editing
Editing the watermelon EPSPS gene using a prime editing platform with visible markers created a non‐transgenic glyphosate‐resistant line. These robust heterozygous mutants tolerate field‐level herbicide doses without growth penalties, serving as ideal parental lines for crop breeding.

Storage of recalcitrant seeds of Antiaris toxicaria (Moraceae)
Seeds of the tropical tree Antiaris toxicaria have typical recalcitrant storage behaviour. The purpose of this work was to examine the effects of temperature and moisture content (MC) on germination during storage. Germination of seeds with a MC of 1.14, 0.90, 0.76 or 0.68 g H2O g -1 DW was not significantly reduced when stored at 15°C for one year ...

Autoimmunity and Periodontitis
In a microbe‐driven inflammatory environment, peptidyl‐arginine deiminase (PAD) enzymes from neutrophils and Porphyromonas gingivalis citrullinate both microbial and self‐antigens. B cell presentation of citrullinated or self‐mimicking epitopes activates T cells that assist B cells in antibody isotype switching, affinity maturation, epitope spreading ...

Maize regeneration via somatic embryogenesis by ectopic expression of morphogenic factors TaGRF4‐TaGIF1 and ZmBBM. Summary Transformation is an indispensable tool for plant genetics and functional genomics. Although stable transformation in maize is no longer a major obstacle, there remains a need for accessible and efficient methods for academic ...

ABSTRACT Objective Head and neck cancer radiotherapy can lead to jaw osteoradionecrosis (ORN). There is currently no definitive treatment for ORN. The efficacy of a novel orally delivered aglycosylated IGF‐1 with an E‐peptide (CTB‐Pro‐IGF‐1), bioencapsulated in plant cells, was evaluated as therapy for jaw ORN in rats. Materials and Methods Rat jaw ORN

ABSTRACT Forward genetics has been instrumental in identifying genes underlying desirable traits, yet its application to polyploid plants, many of which are key agricultural crops, remains challenging due to their genomic complexity. Therefore, we developed BenthMap, a bulk segregant analysis platform for high‐throughput trait mapping and gene ...
