Abstract The rodent 185 kD glycoprotein consists of 1260 amino acids (Bargmann et a/. 1986) (GenBank accession number X03662), whereas the human protein is 1255 amino acids long (Coussens eta/. 1985; Yamamoto et al. 1986) (GenBank accession number M11730).

Androgen receptor versus erbB-1 and erbB-2 expression in human prostate neoplasms
Oncology Reports, 2004A subject of current interest, especially in the development of androgen refractory prostate cancer, is the androgen receptor (AR) activation by growth factor receptors. Here, we report our work on the measurement of AR mRNA and protein expression in benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and prostatic carcinoma (PCA) and evaluation of the relationship ...

Molecular and clinical aspects of the Neu/ErbB-2 receptor tyrosine kinase
1994Tumorigenesis in model experimental systems involves multiple steps that include activation of cell growth and inactivation of inhibitory processes [1,2]. Tumor development in humans is thought to reflect the multiplicity of events in the accumulation of independent mutations that affect clonal growth of the cancerous cell [3].

Abstract 4614: Progesterone receptor and ErbB-2 crosstalk in breast cancer
Cancer Research, 2010Abstract Progesterone receptor (PR) and ErbB-2, a member of the ErbBs family of receptor tyrosine kinases, play key roles in breast cancer development. Here, we identified a new mechanism of PR and ErbB-2 interaction in breast cancer cells.

Targeting Notch signaling cross-talk with estrogen receptor and ErbB-2 in breast cancer
Advances in Enzyme Regulation, 2009In ERα-positive and HER2/neu overexpressing tumors, Notch signaling is partially suppressed and its role is limited by the overwhelming proliferative and survival effects of ERα-dependent and ErbB-2-dependent pathways. In triple-negative cancers, on the other hand, Notch signaling becomes a key mediator of proliferation, survival and possibly invasion.

The ErbB-2/HER2 oncogenic receptor of adenocarcinomas: from orphanhood to multiple stromal ligands
Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Reviews on Cancer, 1998Extensive clinical and biochemical evidence implicates ErbB-2, a transmembrane tyrosine kinase related to growth factor receptors, in the development, metastasis, and resistance to therapy of multiple, common human carcinomas. Previous attempts to uncover an ErbB-2-specific ligand led to isolation of the neuregulin (NRG) family, but these ligands, like

Expression of the c-erbB-2-encoded oncoprotein and progesterone receptor in human meningiomas
Acta Neuropathologica, 1993The present study investigated the expression of c-erbB-2 in 59 meningiomas, including different histological subtypes and anaplastic variants, by immunocytochemistry and molecular biological techniques. Immunohistochemistry using the monoclonal antibody FWP-51 directed against c-erbB-2-encoded oncoprotein gp185 demonstrated variable degrees of ...

To study the c-erbB-2 oncogene in primary transitional cell bladder cancer.Ninety-five patients with known clinical follow-up and epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFr) status were studied for expression of c-erbB-2 by immunostaining. Possible mechanisms underlying increased staining for c-erbB-2 protein were investigated by analyzing DNA and RNA ...

Structure and Inhibition of the neu/erbB-2 Receptor.
1997Abstract : Cancer results from a breakdown in the normal mechanisms which control the growth and division of cells. For many cells, the signals for initiating cell division are hormone molecules that bind to receptors on the surface of the cell. The signal is transmitted through the cell membrane by one or more receptor molecules.

Receptor tyrosine-protein kinase erbB-2 (HER2)-positive breast cancer is a specific entity with an aggressive behavior. Trastuzumab, a monoclonal antibody targeting erbB-2 (HER2) deeply transformed the outcome in patients. Nevertheless, resistance to trastuzumab is still a major concern.
