The M2 Muscarinic G-protein-coupled Receptor Is Voltage-sensitive [PDF]
G-protein coupled receptors are not considered to exhibit voltage sensitivity. Here, using Xenopus oocytes, we show that the M2 muscarinic receptor (m2R) is voltage-sensitive. The m2R-mediated potassium channel (GIRK) currents were used to assay the activity of m2R.

Carbachol (CCh) caused a dose-dependent release of β-hexosaminidase and an increase in the production of inositol 1,4,5-trisphosphate (IP3) in RBL-2H3 cells transfected with m2 mAChR cDNA (RBL-m2 cells).

Benzonidazole therapy modulates interferon-γ and M2 muscarinic receptor autoantibody responses in Trypanosoma cruzi-infected children. [PDF]
OBJECTIVE: The presence of autoantibodies with adrenergic and cholinergic activity, capable of triggering neurotransmitter receptor-mediated effects, has been associated with pathogenesis in T. cruzi-infected hosts.

Obesity and hypertension co‐exist and share molecular mechanisms in terms of dietary therapy, modulated by food bioactive constituents. ABSTRACT Obesity and hypertension are among the most pressing global public health challenges. They frequently co‐exist, with obesity‐related hypertension accounting for an estimated 75% of the hypertension burden ...

Angiotensin II induces vascular inflammation, senescence, extracellular matrix (ECM) degradation and endothelial dysfunction, thus impairing SK+/IK+ channel function and reducing endothelial‐dependent hyperpolarisation (EDH). Metformin activates AMPK, increasing SK+/IK+ channel function and restoring vasorelaxation.
