Inter-strain differences of serotonergic inhibitory pain control in inbred mice

open access: yes, 2010
Background: Descending inhibitory pain control contributes to the endogenous defense against chronic pain and involves noradrenergic and serotonergic systems.

Nicotine and fluoxetine alter adolescent dopamine-mediated behaviors via 5-HT1A receptor activation

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychiatry
IntroductionAbuse or misuse of tobacco, e-cigarettes, or antidepressants may have serious clinical consequences during adolescence, a sensitive period during brain development when the distinct neurobiology of adolescent serotonin (5-HT) and dopamine (DA)

The Potential Role of Serotonin1A Receptors in Post-weaning Social Isolation–Induced Abnormal Behaviors in Rodents

open access: yesJournal of Pharmacological Sciences, 2014
.: Post-weaning social isolation in mice induces behavioral abnormalities such as hyperactivity, aggression, depression- and anxiety-like behaviors, deficits of prepulse inhibition, and reduced pain sensitivity to the noxious stimuli. Then, this mouse is

Ocular Adverse Events Associated With Antidepressants: A Large‐Scale Data Analysis From the FAERS Database

open access: yesCNS Neuroscience &Therapeutics, Volume 32, Issue 6, June 2026.
This decadal FAERS study (2015–2024) identifies 62,020 ocular adverse events (AEs) across 39 antidepressants, highlighting ocular neuromuscular disorders as a key risk. NDDIs show the strongest associations, while SSRIs exhibit the broadest signal spectrum.

Gallic Acid‐Mediated Enhancement of Diazepam‐Induced Sedation via GABAA Receptor Modulation: In Vivo and In Silico Evaluation

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 6, June 2026.
Gallic acid (GA) dose‐dependently reduced sleep latency and prolonged sleep duration in thiopental sodium‐induced mice, with synergistic effects when combined with diazepam. Molecular docking revealed GA's higher binding affinity (−9.8 kcal/mol) to GABAA receptor (α1 and β2 subunits) than diazepam (−8.4 kcal/mol), suggesting GABAergic potential ...

White Matter Dysfunction and Neurotransmitter Basis Underlying the Freezing of Gait in Parkinson's Disease

open access: yesiNew Medicine, Volume 2, Issue 2, June 2026.
In the freezing of gait in Parkinson's disease, white matter shows decreased local activity but increased functional connectivity. These distinct dysfunctions are uniquely associated with specific neurotransmitter systems (GABA, dopamine, etc.), mapping a new neurochemical basis for this debilitating symptom. ABSTRACT Freezing of gait (FOG) is a severe

Repeated Clozapine Increases the Level of Serotonin 5-HT1AR Heterodimerization with 5-HT2A or Dopamine D2 Receptors in the Mouse Cortex

open access: yesFrontiers in Molecular Neuroscience, 2018
G-protein–coupled receptor (GPCR) heterodimers are new targets for the treatment of schizophrenia. Dopamine D2 receptors and serotonin 5-HT1A and 5-HT2A receptors play an important role in neurotransmission and have been implicated in many human ...

Efficacy and safety of 2–4 mg brexpiprazole in the management of schizophrenia: A systematic review and meta‐analysis

open access: yesPsychiatry and Clinical Neurosciences Reports, Volume 5, Issue 2, June 2026.
This graphical summary illustrates the efficacy and safety of brexpiprazole (2–4 mg) in patients with schizophrenia. The meta‐analysis demonstrates significant improvement in clinical outcomes, with reductions in Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale (PANSS) and Clinical Global Impression ‐ Severity scale (CGI‐S) scores, indicating better symptom ...
