The Alpha-1A Adrenergic Receptor in the Rabbit Heart

open access: yesPLOS ONE, 2016
The alpha-1A-adrenergic receptor (AR) subtype is associated with cardioprotective signaling in the mouse and human heart. The rabbit is useful for cardiac disease modeling, but data on the alpha-1A in the rabbit heart are limited. Our objective was to test for expression and function of the alpha-1A in rabbit heart.

Role of alpha adrenergic receptors in erectile function [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Impotence Research, 2000
Penile erection is a complex physiological process in which the regulation of penile hemodynamics depends on signal input from central and peripheral nervous systems, and on the balance and interplay between several local physiological mediators (neurotransmitters, vasoactive agents and endocrine factors).

Alpha‐adrenergic receptors in human blood vessels. [PDF]

open access: yesBritish Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, 1986
The evidence for the presence of postjunctional alpha 1‐ and alpha 2‐ adrenoceptor subtypes in human blood vessels is reviewed. Experiments in healthy subjects are described that show that alpha 1‐ as well as alpha 2‐adrenoceptor mediated vasoconstriction contribute to vascular smooth muscle tone and that adrenaline and noradrenaline have similar ...

The Role of Alpha-adrenergic Receptor Mechanism in Ejaculation

open access: yesThe Tohoku Journal of Experimental Medicine, 1972
The effects of autonomic drugs on seminal emission and ejaculation were investigated in mongrel dogs. Changes in the posterior urethral pressure (posterior urethrogram) and the volume of seminal emission during continuous hypogastric nerve stimulation were measured in test animals.
