Alpha-Adrenergic Receptor Subtypes

New England Journal of Medicine, 1980
CATECHOLAMINES modulate a host of diverse responses in man. These responses are initiated by the interaction of catecholamines with discrete sites located on the plasma membrane of cells. Adrenergic receptors, like other hormone receptors, are responsible for the selective recognition and binding of specific molecular structures, in this case ...

alpha1-Adrenergic Receptor Subtypes

Annual Review of Pharmacology and Toxicology, 1994
Investigators have not yet reached a consensus on the number and signaling mechanisms of alpha 1-adrenergic receptor (AR) subtypes. Two native subtypes (alpha 1A and alpha 1B) can be distinguished pharmacologically, and three subtypes (alpha 1B, alpha 1C, and alpha 1D) have been cloned.

Alpha adrenergic receptor mechanism: Biochemical events

Journal of Molecular and Cellular Cardiology, 1986
Immediate post-receptor events following alpha-adrenoceptor stimulation in cardiac ventricular muscle are still largely unknown. Since membrane redox systems appear to be present in cell plasma membranes and may be involved in trans-sarcolemma electron efflux, the possibility that Ca2+ inflow was controlled by electron efflux was explored.
