The association between hyperuricemia and the Trp64Arg polymorphism of the beta-3 adrenergic receptor

Rheumatology International, 2007
The object of this study was to determine the association of Trp64Arg polymorphism with hyperuricemia. This study is an age-matched, case-controlled study of 203 hyperuricemic and 203 normouricemic men. The frequency of genotypes was compared between the two groups.

Antibodies for the Immunochemistry of the Human β3‐Adrenergic Receptor

European Journal of Biochemistry, 1994
Based on the amino acid sequence deduced from the recently cloned human β3‐adrenergic receptor (huβ3AR) gene, polyclonal antibodies were prepared against synthetic peptides, corresponding to regions of huβ3AR presumed to be exposed at the outer or the inner side of the membrane on the basis of the putative three‐dimensional structure of the previously ...

[The role of beta 3-adrenergic receptors in the human organism].

Przeglad lekarski, 2002
Beta 3-adrenergic receptors (beta 3 ARs) are important structures in the human body but the role they play is not yet very clear. Stimulation of beta 3 AR in adipose tissue causes greater energy expenditure and increases thermogenesis and lipolysis. Mutation of the gene coding beta 3 AR in position 64 with thymidine instead of cytosine leads to the ...

[Insulin resistance and beta 3-adrenergic receptor function].

Nihon rinsho. Japanese journal of clinical medicine, 2000
Beta 3-adrenergic receptors are expressed predominantly on white and brown adipocytes. Activation of the receptor stimulates lipolysis in adipose tissues and increases energy expenditure by thermogenesis in brown adipocytes. It is proposed that dysfunction of beta 3-adrenergic receptor result to obesity and insulin resistance.

Evidence of classic beta 3-adrenergic receptors in porcine adipocytes.

Journal of Animal Science, 1996
Adipocytes from several mammalian species have predominant beta 3-adrenergic receptors (beta 3-AR). Attempts to classify porcine adipocyte beta-adrenergic receptors (beta-AR) into subtypes have not been successful. Selectivity of agonists and antagonists for stimulation of lipolysis and for ligand binding is considerably more restrictive than for the ...

Polymorphism of the beta 3-adrenergic receptor gene in morbid obesity.

International journal of obesity and related metabolic disorders : journal of the International Association for the Study of Obesity, 1997
The Trp64-->Arg allele of the beta 3-adrenergic receptor gene was recently proposed to be associated with an earlier onset of non-insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (NIDDM), features of insulin resistance and a tendency to gain weight. We investigated whether the Arg64 allele predisposes to severe obesity.A genetic association study of 254 subjects ...
