1968Epinephrine, as it is known, exhibits a diphasic effect on the blood pressure. In hypertensive patients, if small amounts of epinephrine are used, the hypotension is more evident than hypertension (Greppi 1932, Goldenberger et al. 1948). The effect of nor-adrenaline is simply monophasic.

European Journal of Pharmacology, 1969Abstract The actions of catecholamines and adrenergic blocking drugs on the veins of the dog (posterior vena cava, portal vein, femoral vein, lateral saphenous vein) were studied in vitro . The physiological effects of epinephrine and norepinephrine are caused by the interaction of these compounds with specific receptor molecules on the external surface of target cells. Since both epinephrine and norepinephrine are found in large quantities in the adrenal gland, these receptors are called adrenergic receptors.
