Protocol for isolating antigen-specific monoclonal antibodies from immunized mice utilizing the Beacon platform

open access: yesSTAR Protocols
Summary: Isolation of antigen-specific plasma B cells had been challenging until the recent arrival of the Beacon platform. Leveraging light-sorting technology, Beacon can perform high-throughput screening of plasma B cells on a chip to sort single cells

Role of B-cell receptors for B-cell development and antigen-induced differentiation [version 1; referees: 2 approved]

open access: yesF1000Research, 2018
B-cell development is characterized by a number of tightly regulated selection processes. Signals through the B-cell receptor (BCR) guide and are required for B-cell maturation, survival, and fate decision.

A DIA‐MS‐based proteomics approach to find potential serum prognostic biomarkers in glioblastoma patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A DIA‐MS‐based proteomics analysis of serum samples from GB patients and healthy controls showed that high levels of IL1R2 and low levels of CRTAC1 and HRG in serum are associated with poor survival outcomes for GB patients. These circulating proteins could serve as biomarkers for the prediction of outcome in patients with GB.

The T cell antigen receptor complex expressed on normal peripheral blood CD4-, CD8- T lymphocytes. A CD3-associated disulfide-linked gamma chain heterodimer. [PDF]

open access: yes, 1987
IL-2-dependent cell lines were established from normal peripheral blood T lymphocytes that express neither CD4 nor CD8 differentiation antigens. CD3+,4-,8- cell lines from 15 different donors failed to react with WT31, an mAb directed against the T cell ...

Evaluation and modification of tumor cell isolation techniques from malignant effusions for rapid drug sensitivity testing

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Non‐small cell lung cancer targeted treatment is limited to a few known genetic alterations, with few alternatives in advanced treatment lines. To direct treatment decisions by drug sensitivity testing (DST), this study compared several methods for tumor cell isolation from malignant effusions, pointing to repeated CD45+ cell depletion for effective ...

Cytomegalovirus infection is common in prostate cancer and antiviral therapies inhibit progression in disease models

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Human cytomegalovirus infection is common in normal prostate epithelium, prostate tumor tissue, and prostate cancer cell lines. CMV promotes cell survival, proliferation, and androgen receptor signaling. Anti‐CMV pharmaceutical compounds in clinical use inhibited cell expansion in prostate cancer models in vitro and in vivo, motivating investigation ...

Endoglin mediates the tumor‐ and metastasis‐promoting traits of stromal myofibroblasts in human breast carcinomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Carcinoma‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) in tumors influence cancer progression. We identified endoglin (ENG) as a key factor in TGF‐β signaling in myofibroblastic CAFs (myCAFs), linked to poor breast cancer outcomes. Inhibiting ENG on myCAFs suppressed the TGF‐β‐Smad2/3 pathway, reducing primary tumor growth and metastasis.

TFEB activation hallmarks antigenic experience of B lymphocytes and directs germinal center fate decisions

open access: yesNature Communications
Ligation of the B cell antigen receptor (BCR) initiates humoral immunity. However, BCR signaling without appropriate co-stimulation commits B cells to death rather than to differentiation into immune effector cells.

Tetraspanins as Organizers of Antigen-Presenting Cell Function

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2018
Professional antigen-presenting cells (APCs) include dendritic cells, monocytes, and B cells. APCs internalize and process antigens, producing immunogenic peptides that enable antigen presentation to T lymphocytes, which provide the signals that trigger ...
