The Vγ9Vδ2 T cell antigen receptor and butyrophilin 3 A1 (BTN3A1): Models of interaction, the possibility of co-evolution, and the case of dendritic epidermal T cells

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2014
Most circulating human gamma delta T cells are Vγ9Vδ2 T cells. Their hallmark is the expression of T cell antigen receptors (TCR) whose γ-chains show a Vγ9-JP (Vγ2-Jγ1.2) rearrangement and are paired with Vδ2 containing δ-chains, a dominant TCR ...

101 Engineering gamma/delta T cells with the T-Cell antigen coupler receptor effectively induces antigen-specific tumor cytotoxicity in vitro and in vivo

open access: yesRegular and young investigator award abstracts, 2020
Background Engineered T cell therapies have revolutionized treatment of relapsed refractory haematological malignancies, however the cost of treatment for autologous products remains a significant challenge to their widespread use. The high cost is driven largely by the need for personalized manufacturing of autologous cell products.

Ligand-induced segregation from large cell-surface phosphatases is a critical step in γδ TCR triggering

open access: yesCell Reports
Summary: Gamma/delta (γδ) T cells are unconventional lymphocytes that recognize diverse ligands via somatically recombined T cell antigen receptors (γδ TCRs). The molecular mechanism by which ligand recognition initiates γδ TCR signaling, a process known

Molecular dynamics simulations of positively selected codons in FcγRI reveal novel biochemical binding properties

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Evolutionary analysis across 32 placental mammals identified positive selection at residues H148 and W149 in the immune receptor FcγR1. Ancestral reconstruction combined with molecular dynamics simulations reveals how these mutations may influence receptor structure and dynamics, providing insight into the evolution of antibody recognition and immune ...

Disulfide-linked gamma delta T cell antigen receptors expressed on T cells derived from patients with primary immunodeficiency disorders. [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Investigation, 1989
T cell lines or clones from two patients, one with a partial DiGeorge syndrome and one with severe common variable immunodeficiency expressed disulfide-linked gamma delta T cell antigen receptor (TCR) comprised of a gamma-chain polypeptide of 40-43 kD, and a delta-chain polypeptide of 37-40 kD.

Intrinsic Photoactive Star ZnPc–Poly(glutamate) Nanoplatforms for Multimodal Glioblastoma Therapy and Brain‐Targeted Delivery

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An intrinsic photoactive star‐shaped zinc phtalocyanine‐poly(L‐glutamic acid) (ZnPc‐PGA) nanoplatform for multimodal glioblastoma (GBM) therapy and brain‐targeted elivery. A ZnPc‐PGA‐based multifunctional theranostic nanocarrier platform enables image‐guided, multimodal GBM therapy. ZnPc‐PGA nanocarriers support the integration of fluorescence imaging,

Mouse T lymphocytes that express a gamma delta T-cell antigen receptor contribute to resistance to Salmonella infection in vivo [PDF]

open access: yesInfection and Immunity, 1994
Mice depleted of lymphocytes expressing the alpha beta or the gamma delta T-cell receptor for antigen (TCR) by antibody treatment were infected orally with Salmonella enteritidis. In both groups of treated mice, the 50% lethal dose decreased, suggesting that both the alpha beta TCR+ and the gamma delta TCR+ subsets contribute to resistance to oral ...

Targeting Post‐Irradiation Thyroid Dysfunction: Electrospun Scaffolds As A Dual‐Action Approach for Antioxidant and Immune Modulation

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Radiation‐induced hypothyroidism follows head and neck radiotherapy due to oxidative stress and inflammation. Electrospun polycaprolactone scaffolds containing adenosine have potential to modulate thyroid repair. Scaffolds enhance thyrocyte proliferation, antioxidant enzymes glutathione peroxidase and catalase, reduce senescence and apoptosis markers ...

Affinity‐Tuned Albumin Hitchhiking Extends the Bioorthogonal Capture Window in Pretargeting Radiotheranostics

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Pharmacokinetic engineering of clickable radioligands was achieved via albumin hitchhiking approach within a pretargeted radiotheranostics delivery platform. This approach reduced rapid renal elimination, expanded bioorthogonal capture window, boosted tumor uptake by ∼3.5‐fold, and improved the tumor‐to‐liver ratio by ∼6‐fold.
