Importin 7 and Nup358 promote nuclear import of the protein component of human telomerase.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2014
In actively dividing eukaryotic cells, chromosome ends (telomeres) are subject to progressive shortening, unless they are maintained by the action of telomerase, a dedicated enzyme that adds DNA sequence repeats to chromosomal 3'end.

Nuclear and cytoplasmic oestrogen receptors in human mammary carcinoma.

open access: yesSouth African medical journal = Suid-Afrikaanse tydskrif vir geneeskunde, 1981
Methods for the measurement of cytoplasmic and nuclear oestrogen receptors (CER and NER) are described. CERs and NERs were found to be labile at ambient temperatures; the receptors are stable for up to 1 year when stored in liquid nitrogen. Over a period of 5 years, 51% of the breast adenocarcinomas examined in women proved to be positive for CER; four

FGFR Like1 drives esophageal cancer progression via EMT, PI3K/Akt, and notch signalling: insights from clinical data and next‐generation sequencing analysis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Clinical analysis reveals significant dysregulation of FGFRL1 in esophageal cancer (EC) patients. RNAi‐coupled next‐generation sequencing (NGS) and in vitro study reveal FGFRL1‐mediated EC progression via EMT, PI3K/Akt, and Notch pathways. Functional assays confirm its role in tumor growth, migration, and invasion.

Noncanonical IFN Signaling, Steroids, and STATs: A Probable Role of V-ATPase

open access: yesMediators of Inflammation, 2019
A small group of only seven transcription factors known as STATs (signal transducer and activator of transcription) are considered to be canonical determinants of specific gene activation for a plethora of ligand/receptor systems. The activation of STATs

Hepatitis C Virus-Induced Cytoplasmic Organelles Use the Nuclear Transport Machinery to Establish an Environment Conducive to Virus Replication

open access: yesPLoS Pathogens, 2013
Hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection induces formation of a membranous web structure in the host cell cytoplasm where the viral genome replicates and virions assemble.

Multi‐omics and low‐input proteomics profiling reveals dynamic regulation driving pluripotency initiation in early mouse embryos

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Mouse pre‐implantation development involves a transition from totipotency to pluripotency. Integrating transcriptomics, epigenetic profiling, low‐input proteomics and functional assays, we show that eight‐cell embryos retain residual totipotency features, whereas cytoskeletal remodeling regulated by the ubiquitin‐proteasome system drives progression ...

Transcriptional reprogramming via signaling domains of CD2, CD28, and 4-1BB

open access: yesiScience
Summary: Costimulatory signals provided to T cells during antigen encounter have a decisive role in the outcome of immune responses. Here, we used chimeric receptors harboring the extracellular domain of mouse inducible T cell costimulator (mICOS) to ...

Molecular and cellular pathogenesis of adamantinomatous craniopharyngioma. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Adamantinomatous craniopharyngiomas (ACPs) are the most common pituitary tumours in children. Although histologically benign, these are clinically aggressive tumours, difficult to manage and associated with poor quality of life for the patients.

BMI‐1 modulation and trafficking during M phase in diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The schematic illustrates BMI‐1 phosphorylation during M phase, which triggers its translocation from the nucleus to the cytoplasm. In cycling cells, BMI‐1 functions within the PRC1 complex to mediate H2A K119 monoubiquitination. Following PTC596‐induced M phase arrest, phosphorylated BMI‐1 dissociates from PRC1 and is exported to the cytoplasm via its
