Androgen metabolism and inhibition of interleukin-1 synthesis in primary cultured human synovial macrophages

open access: yesMediators of Inflammation, 1995
The presence of androgen receptors on synovial macrophages in human normal and rheumatoid synovial tissues has been described previously. It is now reported that primary cultured human macrophages obtained from normal and rheumatoid synovia express ...

Development and Function of Immune Cells in an Adolescent Patient With a Deficiency in the Interleukin‐10 Receptor [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition, 2017
ABSTRACTObjective:Monogenic defects in the interleukin‐10 (IL‐10) pathway are extremely rare and cause infantile‐onset inflammatory bowel disease (IBD)‐like pathology. Understanding how immune responses are dysregulated in monogenic IBD‐like diseases can provide valuable insight in “classical” IBD pathogenesis.

Molecular characterization of covRS mutations in M1UK Streptococcus pyogenes

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Group A Streptococcus (GAS) acquires covRS mutations driving a hypervirulent bacterial state, frequently associated with invasive disease‐like necrotizing fasciitis. We demonstrate that the newly emerged M1UK GAS lineage can also acquire these mutations.

Interactions Between Candida albicans and Host
Interações entre Candida albicans e Hospedeiro

open access: yesSemina: Ciências Biológicas e da Saúde, 2011
Candida albicans can cause grave infections in patients who are immunocompromised by diseases, by surgery, or by immunesupresive therapy. The high levels of morbidity and mortality resulting from those infections in hospitalized patients show that C ...

Expression of resistin, CXCR3, IP-10, CCR5 and MIP-1α in obese patients with different severity of asthma

open access: yesBiological Research, 2013
Asthma studies suggest that alteration in the inflammation pattern may be associated with the severity of asthma. The aim of this study was to compare in vitro the expression of chemokines, chemokine receptors and cytokine production from CD4+ T human ...

Evaluating the involvement of autolysosomes in the nuclear translocation of fluorescent proteins

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Endogenously expressed fluorescent proteins can be degraded by autophagy and transported to cell nuclei via the nuclear pore complex. But in some cell lines, for example, HeLa cells which are positive for immunoreactivity of a receptor ligand, such as UCN I, in cell nuclei, fusion of autolysosome with the nuclear envelope is involved in the nuclear ...

Mouse bone marrow-derived mast cells acquire responsiveness to substance P after co-culture with 3T3 fibroblasts in the presence of stem cell factor

open access: yesAllergology International, 1998
Connective tissue-type mast cells degranulate in response to a neurogenic peptide, substance P, whereas bone marrow-derived mast cells (BMMC) do not respond to this stimulant when prepared with a combination of interleukin-3 and interleukin-4.

The immune-opioid axis in prediabetes: predicting prediabetes with insulin resistance by plasma interleukin-10 and endomorphin-2 to kappa-opioid receptors ratio

open access: yesDiabetology & Metabolic Syndrome, 2021
Background Prediabetes is characterized by a hemoglobin A1c of 5.7–6.4% and fasting blood glucose of 100–125 mg/dl. A high percentage of prediabetes subjects develop type 2 diabetes mellitus in the next years.

Loss of AMBRA1 activates MAPK and angiogenesis signaling pathways in melanoma cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Loss of AMBRA1 in melanoma cells activates multiple oncogenic pathways associated with tumor progression. Transcriptomic and protein network analyses revealed that AMBRA1 depletion enhances MAPK/ERK signaling, angiogenesis, TGF‐β/EMT signaling, and Wnt/axon guidance pathways.
