Interleukin 18 Receptor 1 expression distinguishes patients with multiple sclerosis

Multiple Sclerosis Journal, 2010
Definition of dysregulated immune components in multiple sclerosis may help in the identification of new therapeutic targets. Deviation of the interleukin 18 receptor 1 (IL18R1) is of particular interest since the receptor is critical for experimental neuroinflammation.

Localization of interleukin-18 and its receptor in somatotrophs of the bovine anterior pituitary gland

Cell and Tissue Research, 2005
A pro-inflammatory cytokine, interleukin 18 (IL-18), induces intracellular expression of IL-1 and the release of IL-6. IL-1 and IL-6 has been detected in anterior pituitary cells, suggesting that IL-18 is produced in anterior pituitary cells and may serve to aid immuno-endocrine regulation.

Establishment of the cells useful for murine interleukin-18 bioassay by introducing murine interleukin-18 receptor cDNA into human myelomonocytic KG-1 cells

Journal of Immunological Methods, 1998
We genetically engineered human myelomonocytic KG-I cells by introducing cDNA of murine interleukin-18 receptor (MuIL-18R) and established human cells which were capable of responding to MuIL-18. These cells expressed larger number of MuIL-18R (> 13,000 sites/cell) than intrinsic human IL-18 receptor (HuIL-18R) (< 2,500 sites/cell).

Cloning and Expression of a Single-Chain Fv Fragment Specific for the Human Interleukin 18 Receptor

Hybridoma, 1998
We have recently reported the successful purification and characterization of the human interleukin 18 (IL-18) receptor (R) using a monoclonal antibody (MAb) of the IgM kappa class (117-10C) after immunizing mice with cells of the Hodgkin's disease-derived cell line L428. This antibody is specific for the human IL-18R and inhibits the bioactivity of IL-

Evolution of interleukin-18 binding proteins and interleukin-1 receptor, type II proteins

International Journal of Molecular Medicine, 2005
Interleukin-18 (IL-18) is one of the pivotal cytokines controlling the defense mechanism called inflammation. As a first step to develop proteins for controlling the IL-18 level, we initiated a study of IL-18-binding proteins (IL-18BPs). Twenty-four IL-18BP family members, 11 from vertebrates and 13 from chordopoxviruses, were picked from the NCBI ...

[The role of interleukin-18 and interleukin-18 receptor in predominant Th1 immune response of patients with immune thrombocytopenia].

Zhonghua xue ye xue za zhi = Zhonghua xueyexue zazhi, 2011
To evaluate the role of interleukin (IL)-18 and IL-18 receptor (IL-18R) in the predominant Th1 type cytokine response in patients with immune thrombocytopenia (ITP).Fifteen patients with active phase ITP, eighteen in remission and thirteen healthy controls were enrolled in this study. T-bet and GATA-3 mRNA levels in peripheral blood mononucleated cells

Enhanced Expression of Interleukin-18 Receptor α Chain by CD4+ T Cells in Sarcoidosis

Chest, 2005
To investigate the expression of interleukin-18 receptor alpha chain (IL-18Ralpha) in BAL and peripheral blood (PB) T cells in patients with sarcoidosis compared with control subjects, to evaluate the relationship between the expression and clinical manifestations, and to clarify the mechanisms of altered expression. The study subjects consisted of 21 ...

[Expression of interleukin-18 and interleukin-18 receptor alpha chain of the peripheral white blood cells in immune thrombocytopenia].

Zhonghua nei ke za zhi, 2010
To detect the expression of interleukin (IL)-18 of the peripheral blood cells and IL-18 receptor alpha chain (IL-18Ralpha) on the surface of CD(3)(+) cells in patients newly diagnosed as immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) before medication and to explore the roles of IL-18 and IL-18Ralpha in the development of ITP.Eighteen out-patients or inpatients with ...

Interleukin-18 mRNA, but not interleukin-18 receptor mRNA, is constitutively expressed in islet beta-cells and up-regulated by interferon-gamma.

European cytokine network, 2000
Interleukin-18 (IL-18) mRNA is expressed in islets of NOD mice during the early stages of insulitis and IL-18 has therefore been implicated as a contributing factor in immune-mediated beta-cell destruction. However, a recent study failed to show any effect of human IL-18 on the function of isolated rat islets.

[Effects of allergens on the expression levels of interleukin 18, interleukin 18 binding protein a and interleukin 18 receptor α in the blood monocyte subtypes of patients with allergic asthma].

Zhonghua nei ke za zhi
Objective: To assess the effects of allergens on interleukin-18 (IL-18), IL-18 binding protein a (IL-18BPa), and IL-18 receptor α (IL-18Rα) expression levels in different monocyte subtypes of the peripheral blood samples of allergic asthma (AA) patients, and the correlations between the percentage of IL-18+classical monocytes and plasma levels of pro ...
