Effect of Electroacupuncture on Pain Reaction and Content of Proteinase-activated Receptors 2 in Dorsal Root Ganglion in Hyperalgesia Rats

open access: yes针刺研究, 2018
Objective To observe the effect of electroacupuncture(EA)on mechanical hyperalgesia threshold(MHTs)and thermal hyperalgesia threshold(THTs)and content of proteinase-activated receptors 2(PAR 2)in dorsal root ganglia(DRG)in rats with inflammatory pain,so ...

Combined 5‐aminolevulinic acid and ferric ammonium citrate treatment promotes hair follicle growth by activating dermal papilla cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
5‐Aminolevulinic acid combined with ferric ammonium citrate (5‐ALA/FAC) stimulates dermal papilla cell activity and promotes hair follicle growth. The treatment enhances ERK and AKT signaling, increases hair‐inductive gene expression, and restores dermal papilla function suppressed by dihydrotestosterone and oxidative stress, resulting in enhanced hair

Abnormal wound healing responses in pulmonary fibrosis: focus on coagulation signalling

open access: yesEuropean Respiratory Review, 2008
The normal response of tissue to injury involves a sequence of overlapping events, which need to occur in a timely and controlled manner for successful tissue repair and restoration of normal function.

Tissue-type plasminogen activator selectively inhibits multiple toll-like receptors in CSF-1-differentiated macrophages.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2019
Tissue-type plasminogen activator (tPA) is a major activator of fibrinolysis, which also attenuates the pro-inflammatory activity of lipopolysaccharide (LPS) in bone marrow-derived macrophages (BMDMs) and in vivo in mice.

Large‐scale bidirectional arrayed genetic screens identify OXR1 and EMC4 as modifiers of αSynuclein aggregation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.

PAR2 deficiency impairs antitumor immunity and attenuates anti-PD1 efficacy in colorectal cancer

open access: yesPharmacological Research
A T cell-inflamed tumor microenvironment is predictive of better prognosis and clinical response to immunotherapy. Proteinase-activated receptor 2 (PAR2), a member of G-protein coupled receptors is involved in inflammatory process and the progression of ...

Identifying transcription factors controlling the basal expression of human MRP4 highlights a substantial role for Sp1

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The MRP4 transporter exports several drugs and signaling molecules. Here, we identified key promoter elements regulating basal MRP4 expression. Using reporter assays, we defined a conserved region with essential Sp1 and contributory Ets sites, which controlled basal MRP4 expression.

Acute caffeine treatment protects the developing retina from ischemia‐induced cell death

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Caffeine reduces cell death in the developing retina under ischemia (OGD). This effect does not involve BDNF upregulation or antioxidant pathways (NRF2/VEGF). Neuroprotection occurs mainly through adenosine A2A receptor antagonism, decreasing glutamate release and excitotoxicity, highlighting caffeine's potential as an acute neuroprotective agent in ...

Lipopolysaccharide uptake is augmented in lipopolysaccharide‐tolerant mouse macrophage‐like cells via increased CD14 expression

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In normal (nontolerant) cells, CD14 is crucial for both LPS uptake and LPS signaling. In LPS‐tolerant cells, in which LPS‐induced TNF‐α and IFN‐β production is suppressed, there is a dramatic increase in surface CD14 expression. The overexpressed CD14 in LPS‐tolerant cells is responsible for the enhanced LPS uptake without inducing pro‐inflammatory ...

Comparative study of the ability of Leishmania mexicana promastigotes and amastigotes to alter macrophage signalling and functions

open access: yes, 2010
Leishmania alternates between two morphologically different stages: promastigotes and amastigotes. While the majority of reports focused on how the promastigote form can alter macrophage signalling and function, fewer reports investigated signalling ...
