Novel Biopesticides Based on Recombinant Avidin for Protection of Crops Against Insect Pests [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Farmers are required to increase their food productivity to meet the demand from a continually enlarging population. A major constraint on meeting this requirement is the damage created by insect pests.

Construction of a binary vector for the expression of the Aspergillus niger McoD laccase gene in the industrial filamentous fungus Aspergillus oryzae

open access: yesVietnam Journal of Science, Technology and Engineering, 2018
The filamentous fungus Aspergillus oryzae, also named as the koji mold, is a preferred host for enzyme production due to its prominent secretion ability into the culture medium.

Screening and epitope characterization of Nidogen‐2‐specific nanobodies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Camel immunization and phage display were employed to generate high‐affinity VHH nanobodies against Nidogen‐2. After library construction, biopanning, ELISA screening, sequencing, and recombinant expression, selected nanobodies were purified and characterized, leading to the preliminary exploration of a nanobody‐based sandwich ELISA for specific ...

YlmG1 is localized exclusively to the chloroplast envelope membrane and is involved in preprotein translocation in Arabidopsis thaliana

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Cytosolically synthesized chloroplast preproteins are translocated across the outer and inner envelope membranes through translocons called TOC and TIC, respectively. In green algae and plants, the TIC core is composed of essential membrane proteins, Tic12, Tic20, and Tic214.

Recombinant Viruses for Cancer Therapy. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Recombinant viruses are novel therapeutic agents that can be utilized for treatment of various diseases, including cancers. Recombinant viruses can be engineered to express foreign transgenes and have a broad tropism allowing gene expression in a wide ...

Overcoming challenges for amplified expression of recombinant proteins using Escherichia coli.

open access: yesProtein Expression and Purification, 2017
A thorough characterisation of the genetics, physiology and metabolism of Escherichia coli has led to the availability of a large number of strains and vectors suitable for recombinant protein expression. Despite the relative ease in using E.

Proteasomal degradation of intracellularly expressed Amblyomin‐X limits suicide gene therapy potential in melanoma cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This study explores the feasibility of expressing the antitumoral protein Amblyomin‐X through a suicide gene therapy approach and investigates its intracellular fate after gene delivery. Although the gene is efficiently expressed, melanoma cells rapidly degrade the Amblyomin‐X protein via proteasome activity.

Immunotherapeutic targeting of membrane Hsp70-expressing tumors using recombinant human granzyme B [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Background: We have previously reported that human recombinant granzyme B (grB) mediates apoptosis in membrane heat shock protein 70 (Hsp70)-positive tumor cells in a perforin-independent ...

MiR‐513a promotes human erythroid differentiation by modulating c‐Jun

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
During early human erythropoiesis, miR‐513a promoted erythroid differentiation in primary human CD34+ hematopoietic stem‐progenitor cells and human TF‐1 erythroleukemic cells by indirectly decreasing c‐Jun and phospho‐c‐Jun expression, which are associated with increased GATA1 expression.

Modulation of Functional Activities of Chicken Heterophils by Recombinant Chicken IFN-γ [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
The objective of the present studies was to examine the in vitro effects of recombinant chicken interferon-γ (rChIFN-γ) on shape change, phagocytosis, and the oxidative/nonoxidative killing activities of day-old chicken heterophils.
