Crystallization of Authentic Recombinant Human Growth Hormone
Nature Biotechnology, 1987Large single crystals of natural–sequence recombinant human growth hormone (r–hGH) have been grown from a medium containing polyethylene glycol and a non–ionic detergent, β–octyl glucoside. The identity of the crystals was confirmed by gel electrophoresis and anion exchange chromatography.

Clinical Experience with Authentic Recombinant Human Growth Hormone
Acta Paediatrica, 1986ABSTRACT. Studies of authentic recombinant human growth hormone (rhGH) began very recently in Germany. In this study, one group of patients with hGH deficiency is naïve (no previous hGH treatment), and the second group has been treated with pituitary hGH.

Management of Recombinant Human Growth Hormone Therapy at Puberty
Hormone Research in Paediatrics, 1998Treatment modalities for growth hormone (GH) substitution in GH-deficient children at puberty is still a matter of debate. Although circulating GH levels increase during puberty, it has not been proven that the increase of exogenous GH is necessary for a normal pubertal growth spurt.

Many of the metabolic actions of growth hormone (GH) are mediated through insulin-like growth factors or somatomedins. Recombinant human insulin-like growth factor-I (rhIGF-I) has a dichotomous insulin-like and GH-like action when used in different clinical situations in humans.

In previous work, we demonstrated that monomeric human GH (hGH) digested with thrombin can be resolved after reduction and S-carbamidomethylation into two peptides, one comprising residues 1–134 (here designated 1–134T) and the carboxyl-terminal peptide 135–191 (designated 135–191T). In the present study, the noncovalent recombination of these peptides

Recombinant DNA Synthesis of Human Growth Hormone
1986Human growth hormone (hGH) is a polypeptide of approximately 22,000 daltons in size that is synthesized in the pituitary. Mature hGH has been produced in Escherichia coli bacteria using recombinant DNA technology(1) using the scheme outlined in Fig. 1. The process involved cloning of cDNA to the pituitary hGH mRNA(2) and the subsequent adapting of the ...

Recombinant Human Growth Hormone in Chronic and Acute Respiratory Insufficiency
Hormone Research, 1996Chronic respiratory insufficiency leads to protein-calorie malnutrition (PCM). PCM results in increased morbidity (e.g., infection), which in turn promotes further body wasting. The latter leads to respiratory muscle dysfunction and acute respiratory failure.

Introduction: Discovery of Growth Hormone and Synthesis of Recombinant Human Growth Hormone
2016The most famous likely growth hormone (GH)-deficient individual was Charles S. Stratton (born February 4, 1838), nicknamed General Tom Thumb by P.T. Barnum who discovered him at age of 10. He was born to parents of normal height who were first cousins. His birth weight was nine and a half pounds, and he grew steadily until age 18 months. Thereafter, he
