Spray-Dried Amorphous Solid Dispersions of Griseofulvin in HPC/Soluplus/SDS: Elucidating the Multifaceted Impact of SDS as a Minor Component

open access: yesPharmaceutics, 2020
This study aimed to elucidate the impact of a common anionic surfactant, sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS), along with hydroxypropyl cellulose (HPC) and Soluplus (Sol) on the release of griseofulvin (GF), a poorly soluble drug, from amorphous solid ...

The Effect of Annealing on the Microstructure and Properties of Ultralow-Temperature Rolled Mg–2Y–0.6Nd–0.6Zr Alloy

open access: yesMetals, 2021
Mg–2Y–0.6Nd–0.6Zr alloy was first deformed by equal channel angular pressing (ECAP), then rolled and deformed under ultralow temperature conditions (liquid nitrogen immersion), and finally annealed.

Elastic Properties and Thermal Expansion Behavior of a Polycrystalline VMnFeCoNi High‐Entropy Alloy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The high‐entropy alloy (HEA) V20Mn20Fe20Co20Ni20 (composition in at.%) can be made single‐phase face‐centered cubic (FCC) when annealed above 1338 K followed by water quenching. In this state, the alloy exhibits the greatest strength‐ductility combination of any quinary single‐phase FCC HEA.

Microstructure and mechanical behavior of CrCoNi medium entropy alloys in 1000 MPa grade

open access: yesJournal of Aeronautical Materials, 2020
The ultrafine-grained (UFG) CrCoNi medium entropy alloys (MEAs) with excellent mechanical and tribological performances were fabricated by combining rolling deformation and annealing treatment.

Enhancing Fatigue Crack Growth Resistance in Heterostructured Aluminum Bimetals by Tailored Interface Design

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Different Al/Al bimetals with a single engineered interface reveal how mechanical mismatch governs fatigue crack growth under cyclic loading. Additionally, loading–unloading–reloading tests link the microyielding behavior to the fatigue crack growth resistance, while crack‐path analysis reveals toughening mechanisms at the interface, highlighting ...

Microstructure Evolution in ODS Alloys with a High-Volume Fraction of Nano Oxides

open access: yesMetals, 2018
Existing oxide dispersion strengthened (ODS) alloys are, besides Ni-based superalloy single crystals, the most creep-resistant materials. The creep resistance of the ODS alloys may, moreover, be significantly improved thanks to increasing the volume ...

Microstructure Modification of Additively Manufactured Mo–9Si–8B by Annealing and Its Effects on High‐Temperature Mechanical Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Postbuild annealing systematically modifies the phase fractions and morphology of EB‐PBF processed Mo–9Si–8B. Quantitative microstructure–property correlations reveal how controlled phase evolution enhances high‐temperature compressive strength and creep resistance.

TRANSFORMATION KINETICS FOR NUCLEATION ON RANDOM PLANES AND LINES

open access: yesImage Analysis and Stereology, 2011
Birth and growth processes are known in materials science as nucleation and growth processes. In crystalline materials nucleation almost always takes place in an internal crystalline defect. These defects are classified according to their dimensionality:

Uniform Amorphization of Crystalline Silicon Surfaces Enabled by Deep Ultraviolet Femtosecond Laser Pulses

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Deep‐UV (258 nm) femtosecond pulses enable uniform amorphous silicon writing on Si(100)/(111) with a six‐fold larger fluence amorphization window than NIR methods. Optimized fluence and overlap yield 20–45 nm uniform and continuous amorphous layers. Microscopy shows sharp interfaces, and real‐time reflectivity reveals nanosecond melt–resolidification ...
