Significant Pathologic Response Following Neoadjuvant Therapy and Curative Resection in Patients With Rectal Cancer: Surgical and Oncological Outcomes From a Retrospective Cohort Study

open access: yesCancer Reports
Aim This study evaluated surgical complication rates, recurrence‐free survival, overall survival (OS), and stoma status of patients with rectal cancer after significant pathologic response following neoadjuvant treatment and curative resection ...

Differential expression of cancer‐related genes supports prediction of poor response to first‐line treatments in T‐ALL pediatric patients with high minimal residual disease

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In the present work, we have identified a transcriptional signature based on the differential expression of six genes (BCL2&MAST4, HSH2D&LAT2, METRN&PITPNM2) that would facilitate the early detection of T‐cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T‐ALL) patients prone to a poor treatment response and could be implemented at diagnosis, along with other risk ...

KDM7A and KDM1A inhibition suppresses tumour promoting pathways in prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Treatment resistance is a major challenge for patients with advanced prostate cancer. This study examined an alternative approach to target the major prostate cancer‐promoting pathway by targeting epigenetic factors, whose levels are higher in tumours.

Impact of prophylactic central lymph node dissection on the complications and recurrence rates in papillary thyroid carcinoma—An AFCE (French‐speaking Association of Endocrine Surgery) multicentre study based on the EUROCRINE® national data

open access: yesCancer Reports
Background Prophylactic central neck dissection (pCND) remains controversial during the initial surgery for preoperative and intraoperative node‐negative (cN0) papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC).

Cell‐cycle‐specific lesion evolution rather than inhibition of double‐strand‐break repair underpins cisplatin radiosensitization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

Effects of perioperative anesthetics on the postoperative prognosis of patients undergoing surgery for cervical cancer

open access: yesFrontiers in Pharmacology
Cervical cancer is a common malignancy among women, and tumor excision is the most common surgical intervention. Anesthetics used during surgery include general intravenous, volatile, local anesthetics, sedative and analgesic. Studies have shown that the

NKCC1: A key regulator of glioblastoma progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioblastoma (GBM) progression is driven by disrupted chloride cotransporter homeostasis. NKCC1 is highly expressed in stem‐like, astrocytic, and progenitor cells, correlating with earlier recurrence, while overall survival remains unaffected. NKCC1 serves as a prognostic marker and potential therapeutic target, linking chloride transporter imbalance ...

Features of recurrence of varicose disease of the lower limb and its surgical correction

open access: yesАмбулаторная хирургия
Despite the rapid development and rapid spread of minimally invasive techniques in the surgical treatment of chronic venous diseases in recent years, the relapse rate, taking into account the postoperative period, continues to remain high.
