Progress of Rice Improvement Through Recurrent Selection [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Improved rice varieties play an important role in increasing rice production, through raising and/or stabilizing rice productivity. Thus, it is urgent to develop improved rice varieties.

Hue selectivity from recurrent circuitry in Drosophila

open access: yesNature Neuroscience
AbstractIn the perception of color, wavelengths of light reflected off objects are transformed into the derived quantities of brightness, saturation and hue. Neurons responding selectively to hue have been reported in primate cortex, but it is unknown how their narrow tuning in color space is produced by upstream circuit mechanisms.

Detection of circulating tumor DNA in colorectal cancer patients using a methylation‐specific droplet digital PCR multiplex

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We developed a cost‐effective methylation‐specific droplet digital PCR multiplex assay containing tissue‐conserved and tumor‐specific methylation markers. The assay can detect circulating tumor DNA with high accuracy in patients with localized and metastatic colorectal cancer.

Recurrent Selection in the Domestic Fowl , ,

open access: yesPoultry Science, 1970
Abstract RECURRENT selection in animal breeding refers to Hull’s (1945) method of selection for specific combining ability with a tester stock. Bell et al. (1952) pointed out that this breeding method was based on the performance of the crossbred progeny from an inbred tester line and a non-inbred or segregating population. Selection was based on the

Perspectives in educating molecular pathologists on liquid biopsy: Toward integrative, equitable, and decentralized precision oncology

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Liquid biopsy enables minimally invasive, real‐time molecular profiling through analysis of circulating biomarkers in biological fluids. This Perspective highlights the importance of training pathologists through integrative educational programs, such as the European Masters in Molecular Pathology, to ensure effective and equitable implementation of ...

Genetic gains in popcorn by full-sib recurrent selection [PDF]

open access: yesCrop Breeding and Applied Biotechnology, 2009
The purpose of this study was to investigate the genetic progress in the fourth selection cycle of full-sibpopcorn families. Two hundred families were evaluated for six agronomic traits, including grain yield (GY) and poppingexpansion (PE), in a random ...
