Contribution to the bryophyte flora in beech forests of Vidlič Mountain (Serbia) [PDF]
The research was conducted during 2011 and 2012 in Vidlič Mountain in southeastern Serbia. The aim of this research was to determine species composition of mosses and liverworts in beech forests.

Epiphyte metapopulation dynamics are explained by species traits, connectivity, and patch dynamics [PDF]
The colonization-extinction dynamics of many species are affected by the dynamics of their patches. For increasing our understanding of the metapopulation dynamics of sessile species confined to dynamic patches, we fitted a Bayesian incidence function ...

IUCN'S RED LIST OF THREATENED SPECIES
This paper analyzed representatives of the class Mammalia on the International Union for Conservation of Nature's (IUCN) Red List of threatened species and evaluated whether the protected areas have fulfilled their function of protecting habitats.

Reconstructing enzyme evolution by protein engineering
Natural enzyme evolution can be retraced by protein engineering methods such as directed evolution, rational design, and ancestral sequence reconstruction. These approaches reveal how enzymes emerged from ligand‐binding scaffolds, developed varying substrate preferences, formed oligomeric complexes, adapted to environmental changes, and evolved novel ...

Micro and macro-habitat associations in saproxylic beetles: implications for biodiversity management. [PDF]
Restoration of habitats is critically important in preventing full realization of the extinction debt owed as a result of anthropogenic habitat destruction.

An epithelial GPR35 isoform supports tumor‐associated transcriptional and metabolic phenotypes
GPR35 generates two functionally distinct isoforms with previously unresolved roles. GPR35‐short mediates immune‐cell chemotaxis, while GPR35‐long is enriched in colorectal cancer epithelium, where it supports increased metabolism, proliferation, and tumor‐associated transcriptional programs.

Why be red listed? Threatened Myriapoda species in Brazil with implications for their conservation [PDF]
The biodiversity crisis we live in, marked by high extinction rates, requires well-planned conservation efforts. To overcome this issue, red lists of threatened species are recognized as the main objective approach for evaluating the conservation status of species and therefore guiding conservation priorities.

This review focuses on the role of autophagy and mitophagy in maintaining pancreatic β‐cell function and homeostasis. We discuss how genetic defects affecting these pathways contribute to the development of type 1, type 2, monogenic, and gestational diabetes. We further explore their potential as therapeutic targets. Created in BioRender.

National Red Lists in Fennoscandian Conservation: how spatio-temporal dynamics of red-listed species and geographical scale matter for site selection and conservation priorities [PDF]
The Red List of threatened species is among the best tools available for management and conservation of species. In this thesis, I study nationally red-listed species at various geographical scales from fine-scale forest areas in Norway, to the region of

The IUCN Red List of Ecosystems: motivations, challenges, and applications [PDF]
In response to growing demand for ecosystem-level risk assessment in biodiversity conservation, and rapid proliferation of locally tailored protocols, the IUCN recently endorsed new Red List criteria as a global standard for ecosystem risk assessment ...
