Multidisciplinary physician survey assessing knowledge of the female athlete triad and relative energy deficiency in sport

open access: yesJournal of Eating Disorders, 2023
Background Short and long-term health consequences surrounding Low Energy Availability can be mitigated by recognizing the risk factors and making early diagnosis of the Female Athlete Triad (Triad) and Relative Energy Deficiency in Sport (RED-S).

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Complex Formation between Molybdate and Alizarin Red S [PDF]

open access: yesBulletin of the Chemical Society of Japan, 1983
Abstract The complex formation between molybdate and Alizarin Red S (ARS) has been studied by spectrophotometry and pH titration. Results by the former method confirm that the composition of the complexes formed corresponds to a ratio of 1:1 for molybdate to ARS and that the complexes are stable between pH 2 to 6. Those by the latter are

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Plasmid Profile, Antibiotic Resistance, and Phenotypic Virulent Strains of S. flexneri [PDF]

open access: yesIranian Journal of Public Health, 2006
Shigellosis is an acute gastroenteritis caused by Shigella species. The purpose of this study was to determine plasmid profile, antibiotic resistance and phenotypic virulent by Congo red between S. flexneri strains.

3-Wavelength (UV, Blue, Red) Controlled Photo-Confinement for 3D-Printing: Kinetics and Modeling

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
Detailed kinetics for a 3-wavelength photopolymerization confinement (PC) system is presented for both numerical solutions and analytic formulas. The dynamic profiles of oxygen, free radicals, and monomer conversion for various situations of: blue-light ...

Organizing the interface—Plasma membrane architecture and receptor dynamics in virus‐cell interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...

Long-term tolerability and effectiveness of eptinezumab in Japanese adults with chronic migraine: results of the 60-week open-label SUNSET trial

open access: yesThe Journal of Headache and Pain
Background In the phase 3 SUNRISE trial conducted in a predominantly Asian population with chronic migraine (CM), eptinezumab (100 or 300 mg) met the primary and all key secondary endpoints and was well-tolerated.

Efficient Breeding and Cultivation of Type 2 Red-fleshed Apple Cultivars Using a Search System for Suitable Apple Cultivar Combination

open access: yesHorticultural Plant Journal, 2018
As apple possesses self-incompatibility, knowledge of the S-genotypes is very important for apple breeding and cultivation. We investigated the S-RNase genotypes of 13 type 2 red-fleshed apple cultivars and 8 lineages.

Residual tail twisting in ascidian larvae is stabilized by asymmetric myofibrils that resist bilateral symmetry restoration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ascidian Ciona larvae initially show strong clockwise tail twisting, which is largely corrected during development. However, a small residual twist remains. This study shows that organized helical myofibrils in tail muscles mechanically stabilize this residual asymmetry, preventing complete restoration of bilateral symmetry and revealing how embryos ...
