Advanced delivery systems—including nanoparticles, nanoemulsions, liposomes, and hydrogels—protect food‐derived bioactive peptides from gastrointestinal degradation and bitterness. These systems enable pH‐responsive release, enhance intestinal absorption, and improve therapeutic efficacy against oxidative stress, metabolic disorders, cancer, and ...

A red alga‐specific phycoerythrin gene for biodiversity surveys of callithamnioid red algae [PDF]
AbstractWe introduce a photosynthetic pigment‐encoding phycoerythrin gene, consisting of alpha (cpeA) and beta (cpeB) units that can be used for biodiversity surveys of callithamnioid red algae. A set of polymerase chain reaction (PCR) primers were designed to amplify an approximately 1‐kb fragment of the gene from 14 taxa.

Studies on Polyethers Produced by Red Algae [PDF]
Two novel squalene-derived triterpenes, spirodehydrovenustatriol (3) and 14-keto-dehydrothyrsiferol (4) were isolated from the red alga Laurencia viridis, together with two new and unusual C17 terpenoids, adejen A (5) and B (6). These truncated structures possess structural similarities with other known squalene metabolites and their biogenetic origin ...

Effectiveness of red alga Asparagopsis taxiformis extracts against Leishmania infantum
Leishmaniasis is a disease with a worldwide distribution affecting both humans and animals. There is a need to identify and develop new drugs for the treatment of leishmaniasis. This study showed that crude ethanolic extracts of the red alga Asparagopsis

ABSTRACT Mayonnaise, a widely consumed oil‐in‐water emulsion, is highly susceptible to lipid oxidation due to its high content of polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) and the presence of pro‐oxidant factors such as low pH and iron from egg yolk. Over the past three decades, extensive research has focused on understanding oxidation mechanisms, analytical

ABSTRACT Algal proteins from cyanobacteria serve as a natural source of biopolymers. The principal challenge manifests as nonoptimization of unit operations in downstream process accounting for higher costs. This study focuses on process assessment of unit‐operations for selecting suitable recovery strategies not only based on yield, but also considers

Abstract A recent debate has emerged between Caspar et al. (2024) and Herculano‐Houzel (2023) on inferring extinct dinosaur cognition by estimating brain neuron counts. While thought‐provoking, the discussion largely overlooks the function of cognition, as well as partly neglects the difficulties involved in estimating neuron numbers, which according ...
