Swimming abilities of temperate pelagic fish larvae prove that they may control their dispersion in coastal areas [PDF]
The Sense Acuity and Behavioral (SAAB) Hypothesis proposes that the swimming capabilities and sensorial acuity of temperate fish larvae allows them to find and swim towards coastal nursery areas, which are crucial for their recruitment. To gather further

Hybrid of red seabream (Pagrus major) and Japanese red seabream (Pagrus major) grew rapidly from to August (WT 19.7℃∼24.0℃) while black seabream (Acanthopagrus major) did from September to October (WT 19.9∼23. 0℃). Survival rate of hybrids (85.5%) was a significantly higher than those of the other fish species (20%).

Genetic Phylogeny among Three Species Red Seabream, Black Seabream and Rock Bream Based on Mitochondrial DNA Sequences [PDF]
The Perciformes include approximately 40% of all bony fishes and are the largest order of vertebrates. This order includes some of the most economically relevant marine fishes, particularly the red seabream, black seabream and rock bream. A 409 bp fragment of the cytochrome b (cyt b) gene and 403 bp and 518 bp fragments of ribosomal RNA (12S and 16S ...

Acanthopagrus oconnorae, a new species of seabream (Sparidae) from the Red Sea
AbstractA new species of sparid fish, Acanthopagrus oconnorae, is described based on 11 specimens collected in the shallow (0–1 m depth) mangrove‐adjacent sandflats of Thuwal, Saudi Arabia. The new species is distinguished from its congeners by the following combination of characters: second anal‐fin spine 12.8%–16.6% of standard length (SL); 3½ scale ...

The Use of Dietary Additives in Fish Stress Mitigation: Comparative Endocrine and Physiological Responses [PDF]
In the last years, studies on stress attenuation in fish have progressively grown. This is mainly due to the interest of institutions, producers, aquarists and consumers in improving the welfare of farmed fish.

Dispersal of larval and juvenile seabream: Implications for Mediterranean marine protected areas [PDF]
In the marine context, information about dispersal is essential for the design of networks of marine protected areas (MPAs). Generally, most of the dispersal of demersal fishes is thought to be driven by the transport of eggs and larvae in currents, with

Mechanism of Delayed Convulsion in Fish: The Actions of Norepinephrine in Spinal Cord
Cranial spiking (CS) is among the most popular slaughtering methods for delaying the rigor mortis progress of fish muscles. However, it may cause a convulsion (subsequently referred to as delayed convulsion), which undermines the meat quality and taste ...
