Validation of otolith age determination of the Pacific red snapper Lutjanus peru (Perciformes: Lutjanidae) in La Paz bay and adjacent waters, B.C.S., Mexico

open access: yesCiencias Marinas, 1993
Otoliths were found for be useful for determining the age of the Pacific red snapper Lutjanus peru. This was concluded from the inspection of otoliths from 717 Pacific red snapper collected from March 1989 to March 1991.

A Soft Robotic Fish With a Dielectric Elastomer Actuator Body and Negative Stiffness Spine

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
This work introduces a bio‐mimetic soft robotic fish driven by fiber‐reinforced dielectric elastomer actuators integrated as its body. By prestretching this active skin against a flexible spine, a negative stiffness system is created, enabling large‐amplitude bending.

Condition of larval red snapper (Lutjanus campechanus) relative to environmental variability and the Deepwater Horizon oil spill

open access: yesEnvironmental Research Letters, 2016
The Deepwater Horizon oil spill (DWHOS) spatially and temporally overlapped with the spawning of many fish species, including Red Snapper, one of the most economically important reef fish in the Gulf of Mexico.

Cross-shelf habitat shifts by red snapper (Lutjanus campechanus) in the Gulf of Mexico.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2019
Habitat shifts that occur during the life cycles of marine fishes influence population connectivity and structure. A generalized additive modeling approach was used to characterize relationships between environmental variables and the relative abundance ...

Modular, Textile‐Based Soft Robotic Grippers for Agricultural Produce Handling

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
This article introduces textile‐based pneumatic grippers that transform simple textiles into robust bending actuators. Detailed experiments uncover how cut geometry and fabric selection shape performance. Successful handling of fragile agricultural items showcases the potential of textile robotics for safe, scalable automation in food processing and ...

Apparent digestibility of proteinaceous feed ingredients from animal and plant origin for two tropical species snubnose pompano Trachinotus blochii and mangrove red snapper Lutjanus argentimaculatus

open access: yesAquaculture Reports
Apparent digestibility coefficients (ADC) of protein and energy in a selection of ingredients of animal origin and plant origin were determined for snubnose pompano (Trachinotus blochii) and mangrove red snapper (Lutjanus argentimaculatus).

Textile Actuation Based on In‐Air Actuating Polypyrrole‐Based Tape Yarns for Wearable Soft Robotics: Toward On‐Body Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
This work reports on the actuation behavior of CP‐based polypyrrole/PVdF TYs soaked in electrolyte/ionic liquids and woven actuators where such TYs are integrated. These studies are important toward the creation of on‐body applications such as wearable soft robotics, where textiles offer many advantages such as increased force, integrated electrical ...
