Identification of functional murine mitochondrial formyl peptides and their effects on myeloid‐derived suppressor cell generation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We first identified functional murine mitochondrial N‐formyl peptides (MT‐FPs) and investigated their effects on the in vitro myeloid‐derived suppressor cell (MDSC) generation from bone marrow cells. We demonstrated that MT‐FPs acted directly on bone marrow cells to promote MDSC generation and modulated the polymorphonuclear (PMN)‐MDSC/monocyte (M ...

Development of a Reduced Order Model for Turbine Blade Cooling Design

open access: yesInternational Journal of Turbomachinery, Propulsion and Power
Rotating detonation engines (RDEs) are expected to have higher specific work and efficiency, but the high-temperature transonic flow delivered by the combustor poses relevant design and technological difficulties.

Reduced Order Kalman Filtering without Model Reduction

open access: yes, 2007
This paper presents all optimal discrete time reduced order Kalman filter. The reduced order filter is used to estimate a linear combination of a subset of the state vector.

Chameleon sequences reveal structural effects in proteins representing micelle‐like distribution of hydrophobicity

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Amino acids sequence of two different proteins with the same sequence (chameleon sequence—black boxes) represent in 3D structure of the proteins different secondary structures: HHHH—helical and BBB—Beta‐structural. The chains folded in water environment adopt different III‐order structures in which the chameleon fragments appear to adopt similar status

Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.

Computational multiscale modeling of fracture problems and its model order reduction

open access: yes, 2017
This work focuses on the numerical modeling of fracture and its propagationin heterogeneous materials by means of hierarchical multiscale models basedon the FE2 method, addressing at the same time, the problem of the excessivecomputational cost through ...

Comparison of parametric model order reduction methods to solve magneto-quasistatic and electro-quasistatic problems

open access: yes
In this paper, we compare two parametric model order reduction methods, the multi-moment matching method and the interpolation of projection subspaces method for the magneto-quasistatic (MQS) and electro-quasistatic (EQS) problems derived from Maxwell’s ...

YlmG1 is localized exclusively to the chloroplast envelope membrane and is involved in preprotein translocation in Arabidopsis thaliana

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Cytosolically synthesized chloroplast preproteins are translocated across the outer and inner envelope membranes through translocons called TOC and TIC, respectively. In green algae and plants, the TIC core is composed of essential membrane proteins, Tic12, Tic20, and Tic214.
