Electrochemical reductive dechlorination of chlorinated volatile organic compounds (Cl-VOCs): Effects of molecular structure on the dehalogenation reactivity and mechanisms

Chemical Engineering Journal, 2019
Chlorinated volatile organic compounds (Cl-VOCs) are a group of common contaminants that are widely detected in various polluted media (e.g., water, soil and atmospheric environment).

Photosensitized reductive dechlorination of chloroaromatic pesticides

Chemosphere, 1995
Abstract Photosensitized reductive degradation of chlorinated pesticides : 2,5-dichloro 1,4-dimethoxybenzene “chloroneb”, 1,1,1-trichloro-2,2-bis(4-chorophenyl) ethane “4,4′ DDT” and 2(4-chloro-2-methylphenoxy) methyl ethanoate “MCPA methyl ester” was studied in ethanol/water mixture as a solvent with N,N,N′,N′ tetramethylbenzidine as a ...

Microbial synergistic interactions for reductive dechlorination of polychlorinated biphenyls.

Science of the Total Environment, 2019
Dehalococcoides usually work closely with other beneficial microorganisms for removal of halogenated organic compounds at contaminated sites. Traditional microbial cultivation is necessary but not enough to gain insights into key microbial populations ...

Enhancing Reductive Dechlorination With Nutrient Addition

Remediation Journal, 2013
AbstractEnhanced reductive bioremediation (ERB) of halogenated organics has become widely accepted and implemented to reduce risks to human health and the environment posed by these compounds. The family of chlorinated ethenes (e.g., trichloroethene) is among the most common contaminants treated using ERB techniques.

Enhanced reductive dechlorination of trichloroethene with immobilized Clostridium butyricum in silica gel.

Chemosphere, 2019
Deteriorated environmental conditions during the bioremediation of trichloroethene (TCE)-polluted groundwater cause decreased treatment efficiencies.

Reductive dechlorination of trichloroethene under different sulfate-reducing and electron donor conditions.

Journal of Contaminant Hydrology, 2019
The effect of sulfate presence on reductive dechlorination of chlorinated ethenes has been a matter of conflict among the limited reports found in literature.

Kinetics of the Microbial Reductive Dechlorination of Pentachloroaniline

Environmental Science & Technology, 2006
The microbial reductive dechlorination kinetics of pentachloroaniline (PCA) and less chlorinated anilines (CAs) were investigated with a mixed, fermentative/ methanogenic culture. Batch dechlorination assays were performed with all available CAs at an initial concentration of 3 microM, and an incubation temperature of 22 degrees C.

Abiotic reductive dechlorination of chlorinated ethylenes by soil

Chemosphere, 2004
Abiotic reductive dechlorination of chlorinated ethylenes by soil in anaerobic environments was characterized to improve knowledge of the behavior of chlorinated ethylenes in natural systems, including systems modified to promote attenuation of contaminants.

Reductive dechlorination of TCE by zero valent bimetals

Environmental Technology, 2003
Six zero valent bimetal combinations were tested for trichloroethene (TCE) dechlorination. Palladium, nickel, and copper were coated at 500 mg kg(-1) or less onto zero valent iron, producing Pd/Fe, Ni/Fe, and Cu/Fe bimetals, and zinc, producing Pd/Zn, Ni/Zn, and Cu/Zn bimetals. The order of reactivity of the six bimetals and two metals based on surface

Reductive Dechlorination of DDT to DDD by Yeast

Science, 1963
Labeled DDD [1,1-dichloro-2,2-bis(p-chlorophenyl)-ethane] was formed from C 14 -labeled DDT in the presence of yeast. The formation of DDD from DDE [1,1-dichloro-2,2-bis ( p -chlorophenyl)-ethylene] was not observed, indicating that a reductive dechlorination of DDT occurs.
