Interaction between Molten Al‐Killed Mn–B Steel and Carbon‐Bonded MgO Refractories Based on Recyclates

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
High‐temperature interactions between low‐sulfur Al‐killed Mn–B steel and MgO–C refractories (0 and 50 wt% recyclates) are studied via finger immersion tests (1600 °C). Surface‐active elements influence infiltration. MgO/CaS layer forms, along with spinel and calcium silicate.

Image Resolution Enhancement via Data-Driven Parametric Models in the Wavelet Space

open access: yesEURASIP Journal on Image and Video Processing, 2007
We present a data-driven, project-based algorithm which enhances image resolution by extrapolating high-band wavelet coefficients. High-resolution images are reconstructed by alternating the projections onto two constraint sets: the observation ...

SASRT: Semantic-Aware Super-Resolution Transmission for Adaptive Video Streaming over Wireless Multimedia Sensor Networks

open access: yesSensors, 2019
There are few network resources in wireless multimedia sensor networks (WMSNs). Compressing media data can reduce the reliance of user’s Quality of Experience (QoE) on network resources.

Resolution of seven-axis manipulator redundancy: A heuristic issue [PDF]

open access: yes
An approach is presented for the resolution of the redundancy of a seven-axis manipulator arm from the AI and expert systems point of view. This approach is heuristic, analytical, and globally resolves the redundancy at the position level.

Thermodynamic Pathways of Nonequilibrium Solidification in Wire‐Arc Additive Manufacturing Fe‐Based Multicomponent Alloy Structures

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Geometry‐driven thermal behavior in wire‐arc additive manufacturing (WAAM) influences microstructural evolution during nonequilibrium solidification of a chemically complex Fe–Cr–Nb–W–Mo–C nanocomposite system. By comparing different deposits configurations, distinct entropy–cooling rate correlations, segregation, and carbide evolution are revealed ...

Recovering a stochastic process from noisy ensembles of many single particle trajectories

open access: yes, 2015
Recovering a stochastic process from noisy ensembles of single particle trajectories (SPTs) is resolved here using the Langevin equation as a model.

Towards Defect Phase Diagrams: From Research Data Management to Automated Workflows

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A research data management infrastructure is presented for the systematic integration of heterogeneous experimental and simulation data required for defect phase diagrams. The approach combines openBIS with a companion application for large‐object storage, automated metadata extraction, provenance tracking and federated data access, thereby supporting ...

Composites of Shellac and Silver Nanowires as Flexible, Biobased, and Corrosion‐Resistant Transparent Conductive Electrodes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Shellac, a centuries‐old natural resin, is reimagined as a green material for flexible electronics. When combined with silver nanowires, shellac films deliver transparency, conductivity, and stability against humidity. These results position shellac as a sustainable alternative to synthetic polymers for transparent conductors in next‐generation ...
