Prescriptive Norms and Social Comparisons

open access: yesGames, 2018
This paper analyzes the equilibrium strength of prescriptive norms to contribute to public goods. We consider three methods of establishing what an acceptable contribution to the public good is.

Consistency of shared reference frames should be reexamined

open access: yes, 2008
In a recent Letter [G. Chiribella et al., Phys. Rev. Lett. 98, 120501 (2007)], four protocols were proposed to secretly transmit a reference frame. Here We point out that in these protocols an eavesdropper can change the transmitted reference frame ...

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

Modifications of the Omega ratio for decision making under uncertainty

open access: yesCroatian Operational Research Review, 2015
The Omega ratio (Ω-ratio) was proposed by Shadwick and Keating in 2002 as a performance measure applied to rankings of assets, portfolios or funds. It involves partitioning returns into loss and gain below and above a given threshold.

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

Fingerprint Reference-Point Detection

open access: yesEURASIP Journal on Advances in Signal Processing, 2005
A robust fingerprint recognition algorithm should tolerate the rotation and translation of the fingerprint image. One popular solution is to consistently detect a unique reference point and compute a unique reference orientation for translational and ...

Multiattribute preference models with reference points [PDF]

open access: yes
In the context of multiple attribute decision making, preference models making use of reference points in an ordinal way have recently been introduced in the literature.

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...
