The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Dynamic instability of imperfect laminated sandwich plates with in-plane partial edge load

open access: yesLatin American Journal of Solids and Structures
Dynamic instability of laminated sandwich plates having inter-laminar imperfections with in-plane partial edge loading is studied for the first time using an efficient finite element plate model.

Approximation Techniques for Planar Periodic Structures [PDF]

open access: yes, 1985
The rigorous calculation of electromagnetic properties of periodic meshes using moment methods requires considerable algebraic work and computer resources. In this paper, a number of easy to use approximation techniques for analyzing thin structures with

Refined theory for linearly elastic plates: Laminae and laminates [PDF]

open access: yesMathematics and Mechanics of Solids, 2011
It is well known that bending and stretching modes of deformation in linearly-elastic plates decouple at leading order in thickness provided that the mid-plane is a plane of reflection symmetry of the three-dimensional material properties. This situation being the exception rather than the norm, it is important to have a model that accommodates ...

β‐TrCP overexpression enhances cisplatin sensitivity by depleting BRCA1

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Low levels of β‐TrCP (Panel A) allow the accumulation of BRCA1 and CtIP, which facilitate the repair of cisplatin‐induced DNA damage via homologous recombination (HR) and promote tumor cell survival. In contrast, high β‐TrCP expression (Panel B) leads to BRCA1 and CtIP degradation, impairing HR repair, resulting in persistent DNA damage and apoptosis ...

Исследование динамического деформирования пластины на основе одного волнового уравнения [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Исследуется нестационарное деформирование прямоугольной упругой изотропной пластины под действием импульсных нагрузок. Динамическое поведение пластины описывается в рамках уточненной теории первого порядка на основе одного волнового уравнения ...

PARP inhibitors elicit distinct transcriptional programs in homologous recombination competent castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PARP inhibitors are used to treat a small subset of prostate cancer patients. These studies reveal that PARP1 activity and expression are different between European American and African American prostate cancer tissue samples. Additionally, different PARP inhibitors cause unique and overlapping transcriptional changes, notably, p53 pathway upregulation.

Evaluation of the Best New Cross-ply Laminated Plate Theories through the Axiomatic/Asymptotic Approach [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Applied and Computational Mechanics, 2018
This paper presents Best Theory Diagrams (BTDs) constructed from various non-polynomial theories for the static analysis of thick and thin symmetric and asymmetric cross-ply laminated plates. The BTD is a curve that provides the minimum number of unknown

Investigating the cell of origin and novel molecular targets in Merkel cell carcinoma: a historic misnomer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study indicates that Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) does not originate from Merkel cells, and identifies gene, protein & cellular expression of immune‐linked and neuroendocrine markers in primary and metastatic Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) tumor samples, linked to Merkel cell polyomavirus (MCPyV) status, with enrichment of B‐cell and other immune cell

Analysis of the mechanical behavior of functional gradient porous plates on an elastic foundation

open access: yesScientific African
Summary: This study presents an in-depth analysis of the bending behavior of porous functionally graded material (P-FGM) plates resting on a Winkler–Pasternak elastic foundation. Two types of transverse loading are considered: uniform and sinusoidal. The
