InSAR Digital Surface Model Refinement by Block Adjustment with Horizontal Constraints [PDF]

open access: yesISPRS Annals of the Photogrammetry, Remote Sensing and Spatial Information Sciences
Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (InSAR) technology is an important method to generate digital surface model (DSM). The past studies on space-borne derived DSM most focused on the elevation correction, due to the relative low resolution of DSM ...

Incremental Database Design using UML-B and Event-B [PDF]

open access: yesElectronic Proceedings in Theoretical Computer Science, 2018
Correct operation of many critical systems is dependent on the data consistency and integrity properties of underlying databases. Therefore, a verifiable and rigorous database design process is highly desirable.

State of the art: refinement of multiple sequence alignments

open access: yesBMC Bioinformatics, 2006
Background Accurate multiple sequence alignments of proteins are very important in computational biology today. Despite the numerous efforts made in this field, all alignment strategies have certain shortcomings resulting in alignments that are not ...

REFINEMENT OF STEREO IMAGE ANALYSIS USING PHOTOMETRIC SHAPE RECOVERY AS AN ALTERNATIVE TO BUNDLE ADJUSTMENT [PDF]

open access: yesThe International Archives of the Photogrammetry, Remote Sensing and Spatial Information Sciences, 2016
Topographic mapping, e.g. the generation of Digital Elevation Models (DEM), is of general interest to the remote sensing community and scientific research. Commonly, photogrammetric methods, e.g.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Specification and Verification Method of Parallel Hierarchical Timed Automata by Predicate Abstraction and Refinement

open access: yesIEEE Access
Embedded systems have three major features: real-time, parallel and hierarchical. Therefore, we specified an embedded system as a hierarchically structured timed automata operating in parallel.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Structural insights and therapeutic targets in Acinetobacter baumannii capsule biosynthesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Hypervirulent KL49 A. baumannii's capsular polysaccharide contains the nonulosonic acid 8‐epi‐Leg5,7Ac2, synthesized by epimerization via ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC. Crystal structures of ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC reveal their role in CMP‐Leg5,7Ac2 synthesis and regioselective C8 epimerization.

Design and analysis strategies for robust microbiome ageing research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The gut microbiome changes with age and associates with age‐related morbidity and mortality, establishing it as a potential biomarker and intervention target for ageing. Realising this potential requires methodological rigour, yet distinguishing biological signals from methodological artefacts remains challenging across cohorts. This review provides an
