In this paper, I present my PhD research (in progress) focusing on the mathematical reform movements of Hungary and France in the 1960s and ’70s and their origins: especially how much they were influenced by the international “New Math” movement, and by the mathematical and mathematics education traditions of these countries.

Using Thermodynamics and Microstructure to Mitigate Overfitting in Pellet Reduction Models
A in time and space discretized, thermodynamically sound model for direct reduction of iron oxide pellets is described. The number of fitting parameters is drastically reduced compared to existing models. Nevertheless, fitting kinetic parameters based on conversion degree data alone leads to overfitting, which can be mitigated by correlating the ...

Madrasa Ideologies of English in Bangladesh: Questioning ELT‐Aid and Post‐9/11 De‐Islamization
Abstract External donors increasingly promote English as a notionally value‐neutral language of socioeconomic advancements in the Muslim South, overlooking local ideological diversities. Furthermore, national and Western forces deploy English as a tool to de‐Islamize madrasas (Islamic educational institutes) in the post‐9/11 world for global peace ...
