Refractive index sensor for sensing high refractive index bioliquids at the THz frequency

Journal of the Optical Society of America B, 2021
In this paper, a highly sensitive and low loss refractive index (RI) biosensor for high RI bio-analytes detection, such as for cholesterol, nicotine, and bacillus bacteria, is proposed. A novel, to the best of our knowledge, decagonal structure with porous core photonic crystal fiber (PC-PCF) is introduced.

Microchannel-based plasmonic refractive index sensor for low refractive index detection

Applied Optics, 2019
A microchannel incorporated photonic crystal fiber (PCF)-based surface plasmon resonance (SPR) sensor for detection of low refractive index (RI) at near-infrared wavelength is presented in this paper. To attain a simple and practically feasible mechanism, plasmonic material gold (Au) and sensing medium are placed outside the fiber. A thin layer of TiO2

Microstructured optical fiber refractive index sensor

Optics Letters, 2010
We describe a dual-core microstructured optical fiber designed for refractive index sensing of fluids. We show that by using the exponential dependence of intercore coupling on analyte refractive index, both large range and high sensitivity can be achieved in the one device.

Ultrasensitive optofluidic resonator refractive index sensor

Optics Letters, 2018
We report an optofluidic resonator refractive index sensor based on an integrated structure constructed by a free-space coupling architecture. It uses a symmetrical metal-cladding hollow-core waveguide and a prism to generate surface plasmon polarization.

An optofluidic refractive index sensor based on partial refraction

Sensors and Actuators B: Chemical, 2010
Abstract This article reports on an optofluidic refractive index sensor based on partial refraction. The sample to be measured is injected into a cladding sensing microchannel. The refraction angle and the optical reflectivity change with the variation of the refractive index of the cladding liquid.

Echelon grating refractive index sensor

Optics Letters
There are few reports on optical refractive index sensors that have both high resonant-wavelength resolution (RWR) and high refractive index sensitivity (RIS). Herein, based on an echelon grating, we design a refractive index sensor that combines the two advantages together. The principal fringe of echelon grating has a small full width at half maximum

Novel optical refraction index sensor

SPIE Proceedings, 2011
This works describes a novel optical refraction index sensor which is based on the analysis of double reflection lecture detection. This process initially identifies the thickness of a semitransparent solid o liquid material by the retro-reflection of a laser diode at 633nm as a function of distance along the device under test with a Z-axis scanner ...

A Nonlinear Microresonator Refractive Index Sensor

Journal of Lightwave Technology, 2015
We propose an ultrasensitive refractive index (RI) sensor based on the nonlinear index of refraction in a microring resonator coupled to waveguides in an add-drop configuration. The nonreciprocity caused by the difference between the nonlinear self-phase and cross-phase modulation leads to a bifurcation of the optical intensities for two ...

Refractive index measurements by fiber Bragg grating sensor

Proceedings of IEEE Sensors 2003 (IEEE Cat. No.03CH37498), 2004
The numerical and experimental analysis on the use of thinned fiber Bragg gratings as refractive index sensors have been carried out. Wet chemical etching in a buffered hydrofluoric acid (HF) solution was used for sensor fabrication. Experimental characterization for an 8.5/spl mu/m etched cladding sensor is presented demonstrating resolutions of /spl ...

Refractive index sensor based on surface-plasmon interference

Optics Letters, 2009
We propose a refractive index sensor based on the interference of two surface-plasmon waves on both surfaces of a gold film with a two-slit structure. The phase of the interference was solved, and the dispersion relation of the real part of Au dielectric function was considered.
