Experimental Physiology, EarlyView.Abstract Context‐dependent sensory processing within the predictive coding framework relies on detecting mismatches between incoming stimuli and internal predictive models. Sensory deviants elicit prediction errors, seen as enhanced neural responses, that update these models and influence attention and behaviour.
