THE EFFECT OF CRYOLITE NA3ALF6 AND SODIUM FLUORIDE NAF ON THE CORROSION AND WETTING BY MOLTEN AL-SI ALLOY OF ANDALUSITE BASED REFRACTORIES

open access: yesIranian Journal of Materials Science and Engineering, 2014
In order to improve the corrosion resistance of aluminosilicate refractories by molten aluminum, alkaline fluoride NaF and cryolite Na3AlF6 powders were studied. Both physical and chemical properties are known to influence wetting and corrosion behavior.

Simplified jet-A kinetic mechanism for combustor application [PDF]

open access: yes, 1993
Successful modeling of combustion and emissions in gas turbine engine combustors requires an adequate description of the reaction mechanism. For hydrocarbon oxidation, detailed mechanisms are only available for the simplest types of hydrocarbons such as ...

Roughness Measurements at Small and Uneven Surfaces of Ceramic Foam Filters

open access: yesSurface and Interface Analysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study investigated the possibility of roughness characterization of ceramic foam filters using a laser scanning microscope, examining the influence of magnification, measured area, cutoff wavelength (λc), measured roughness parameter, and position within the ceramic foam on the measured roughness data. Firstly, the effect of magnification

Pulse Electrodeposited NiFeCoMoW High‐Entropy Alloy Electrode for Efficient Alkaline Water Electrolysis

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
A pulse‐electrodeposited NiFeCoMoW high‐entropy alloy grown on copper foam forms a binder‐free, hierarchical electrode for alkaline water splitting. The bifunctional catalyst achieves low overpotentials for hydrogen and oxygen evolution and enables efficient two‐electrode electrolysis, delivering 1.52 V at 10 mA cm−2 and 1.83 V at 1000 mA cm−2.

Preparation Of Calcium Aluminate-Spinel Synthetic Aggregates Using Electrostatic Precipitated Dolomite DustAnd Calcined Alumina [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Calcium alumniate-spinel phases have been developed for synthetic aggregate from ESP dolomite dust and calcined alumina. A huge amount of dolomite dust is collected at electrostatic precipitator (ESP) during dead burning of raw dolomite in Rotary Kiln ...

System as a Unifying Process: An Onto‐Epistemic Notion of System

open access: yesSystems Research and Behavioral Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This article proposes an onto‐epistemic notion of system as a relational process of unifying a multiplicity of actuals and abstractions into an actual unity, thereby encompassing concreteness and abstraction onto the same plane. This notion rejects the opposition between constructivism and realism within systems studies, the excessive focus on

Self-cycling fluid heater [PDF]

open access: yes, 1973
A self-cycling fluid heater is described which includes a high temperature upstream preheater for elevating the stream temperature. A high intensity jet arc heater heats the preheated fluid stream to ultrahigh reaction temperatures and discharges the ...

Additive Manufacturing of Hot‐Work Tool Steel by In Situ Alloying Using Laser Powder Bed Fusion and Directed Energy Deposition—Strategies to Improve Chemical Homogeneity

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
To support future alloy development a powder mixture is processed by laser additive manufacturing. The powder mixture containing Mo‐ and W‐rich tracers is processed by powder bed fusion using single and double laser exposure and by directed energy deposition which provides drastically enlarged melt pools.

Fuel property effects in stirred combustors [PDF]

open access: yes, 1980
Soot formation in strongly backmixed combustion was investigated using the jet-stirred combustor (JSC). This device provided a combustion volume in which temperature and combustion were uniform.
