Bioceramics in Endodontics: Updates and Future Perspectives

open access: yesBioengineering, 2023
Bioceramics, with excellent bioactivity and biocompatibility, have been widely used in dentistry, particularly in endodontics. Mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA) is the most widely used bioceramic in endodontics.

Bioactive Nanofibrous Scaffolds for Regenerative Endodontics [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Dental Research, 2013
Here we report the synthesis, materials characterization, antimicrobial capacity, and cytocompatibility of novel antibiotic-containing scaffolds. Metronidazole (MET) or Ciprofloxacin/(CIP) was mixed with a polydioxanone (PDS)polymer solution at 5 and 25 wt% and processed into fibers. PDS fibers served as a control.

Management of severe bone loss in patients at risk of medication‐related osteonecrosis of the jaw with microsurgery and guided bone regeneration: A case study

open access: yesClinical Advances in Periodontics, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Medication‐related osteonecrosis of the jaw (MRONJ) is a challenging complication associated with antiresorptive medications. Its exact pathophysiology remains unclear, but dental extractions and infections are known triggers, complicating prevention, and treatment.

Combination of autogenous dentin graft and allograft for horizontal ridge augmentation: A case report

open access: yesClinical Advances in Periodontics, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Autogenous particulate dentin has emerged as one of the promising biocompatible alternatives to traditional bone graft materials in alveolar ridge augmentation. Although its clinical success is documented, comprehensive studies combining histological and radiographic evaluations remain limited. This case report addresses this gap by

Effects of ciprofloxacin-containing antimicrobial scaffolds on dental pulp stem cell viability-In vitro studies [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
OBJECTIVE: A combination of antibiotics, including but not limited to metronidazole (MET) and ciprofloxacin (CIP), has been indicated to eradicate bacteria in necrotic immature permanent teeth prior to regenerative procedures.

Ten‐year follow‐up of bilateral gingival recession treatment: A case report

open access: yesClinical Advances in Periodontics, EarlyView.
Abstract Background This work aims to present a 10‐year follow‐up of a young patient who underwent treatment with collagen matrix (CM) combined with enamel matrix derivative (EMD) for bilateral gingival recessions in the maxillary canine region. Methods The patient, a 25‐year‐old woman, presented with bilateral Cairo type 1 recessions.
