Dual targeting of RET and SRC synergizes in RET fusion‐positive cancer cells
Despite the strong activity of selective RET tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs), resistance of RET fusion‐positive (RET+) lung cancer and thyroid cancer frequently occurs and is mainly driven by RET‐independent bypass mechanisms. Son et al. show that SRC TKIs significantly inhibit PAK and AKT survival signaling and enhance the efficacy of RET TKIs in ...

HIV-1 replication through hHR23A-mediated interaction of Vpr with 26S proteasome.
HIV-1 Vpr is a virion-associated protein. Its activities link to viral pathogenesis and disease progression of HIV-infected patients. In vitro, Vpr moderately activates HIV-1 replication in proliferating T cells, but it is required for efficient viral ...

Cell cycle progression or translation control is not essential for vesicular stomatitis virus oncolysis of hepatocellular carcinoma. [PDF]
The intrinsic oncolytic specificity of vesicular stomatitis virus (VSV) is currently being exploited to develop alternative therapeutic strategies for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Identifying key regulators in diverse transduction pathways that define

The Primate Lentivirus-Encoded Nef Protein Can Regulate Several Steps of the Viral Replication Cycle
The primate lentiviruses encode a protein, Nef, which is required for efficient viral replication in their host. Several biological activities of nef identified in vitro may contribute to this requirement in vivo, including receptor modulation and interference with cellular signaling pathways.

HIV-1 envelope proteins up-regulate N6-methyladenosine levels of cellular RNA independently of viral replication [PDF]
N6-methyladenosine (m6A) modification of HIV-1 RNA regulates viral replication and protein expression. The m6A modification is regulated by two groups of cellular proteins named writers and erasers that add or remove m6A, respectively. HIV-1 infection of CD4+ T-cells increases m6A levels of cellular mRNA, but the underlying mechanism is unknown.

Exploiting metabolic adaptations to overcome dabrafenib treatment resistance in melanoma cells
We show that dabrafenib‐resistant melanoma cells undergo mitochondrial remodeling, leading to elevated respiration and ROS production balanced by stronger antioxidant defenses. This altered redox state promotes survival despite mitochondrial damage but renders resistant cells highly vulnerable to ROS‐inducing compounds such as PEITC, highlighting redox

Cellular hnRNP A2/B1 interacts with the NP of influenza A virus and impacts viral replication. [PDF]
The viral ribonucleoprotein (vRNP) of influenza A virus is formed by virion RNA (vRNA), viral polymerase complex, and nucleoprotein (NP). The NP plays an important role in facilitating the replication and stabilization of viral RNA.

Activated T lymphocytes are generated during an immune response. The induction of T lymphocyte proliferation is one way in which cell numbers can be controlled. However, once generated, the increased numbers of cells must be removed in order to re-establish cellular homoeostasis within the immune system.

The LINC01116 long noncoding RNA is induced by hypoxia and associated with poor prognosis and high recurrence rates in two cohorts of lung adenocarcinoma patients. Here, we demonstrate that besides its expression in cancer cells, LINC01116 is markedly expressed in lymphatic endothelial cells of the tumor stroma in which it participates in hypoxia ...
