Infrared regulators and SCETII [PDF]

open access: yesPhys.Rev. D69 (2004) 114011, 2003
We consider matching from SCETI, which includes ultrasoft and collinear particles, onto SCETII with soft and collinear particles at one loop. Keeping the external fermions off their mass shell does not regulate all IR divergences in both theories. We give a new prescription to regulate infrared divergences in SCET.

ER-Localized PIN Carriers: Regulators of Intracellular Auxin Homeostasis

open access: yesPlants, 2020
The proper distribution of the hormone auxin is essential for plant development. It is channeled by auxin efflux carriers of the PIN family, typically asymmetrically located on the plasma membrane (PM).

China’s coal mine methane regulations have not curbed growing emissions

open access: yesNature Communications, 2019
Anthropogenic methane emissions from China are likely greater than in any other country in the world. The largest fraction of China’s anthropogenic emissions is attributable to coal mining, but these emissions may be changing; China enacted a suite of ...

Regulatory Markets: The Future of AI Governance [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
Appropriately regulating artificial intelligence is an increasingly urgent policy challenge. Legislatures and regulators lack the specialized knowledge required to best translate public demands into legal requirements. Overreliance on industry self-regulation fails to hold producers and users of AI systems accountable to democratic demands.

The Hippo pathway: regulators and regulations.

open access: yesGenes & Development, 2013
Control of cell number is crucial in animal development and tissue homeostasis, and its dysregulation may result in tumor formation or organ degeneration.

Regulating the Regulators: microRNA and Asthma [PDF]

open access: yesWorld Allergy Organization Journal, 2011
One obstacle to developing an effective therapeutic strategy to treat or prevent asthma is that the fundamental causes of asthma are not totally understood. Asthma is thought to be a chronic TH2 immune-mediated inflammatory disease. Epigenetic changes are recognized to play a role in the initiation and maintenance of a TH2 response.

Throttling Growth Speed: Evaluation of aux1-7 Root Growth Profile by Combining D-Root system and Root Penetration Assay

open access: yesPlants, 2022
Directional root growth control is crucial for plant fitness. The degree of root growth deviation depends on several factors, whereby exogenous growth conditions have a profound impact. The perception of mechanical impedance by wild-type roots results in

Assessing the impact of regulations and standards on innovation in the field of AI [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
Regulations and standards in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) are necessary to minimise risks and maximise benefits, yet some argue that they stifle innovation. This paper critically examines the idea that regulation stifles innovation in the field of AI.
