Advancing In Vivo Chimeric Antigen Receptor T‐Cell Engineering to Accelerate Clinical Translation

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 10, October 2026.
In vivo CAR‐T cell generation directly engineers endogenous T cells using pre‐manufactured gene delivery vectors that target T cells and deliver CAR‐encoding genetic material. The resulting CAR‐T cells expand in vivo and mediate antigen‐specific cytotoxicity.

Frailty and Fitness in Older Adults With Acute Myeloid Leukemia: From Chronological Age to Multiparametric Assessment

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Haematology, Volume 117, Issue 4, Page 787-798, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Acute Myeloid Leukemia predominantly affects older adults, who often present with comorbidities, functional impairment, and frailty, limiting eligibility for intensive chemotherapy or allogeneic transplantation. Historically, treatment options were restricted to hypomethylating agents, low‐dose cytarabine, hydroxyurea, or supportive care, with

Serum GFAP and Age Accurately Distinguish AQP4‐IgG Positive and Double Seronegative NMOSD From MOGAD After a Recent Attack

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Neurology, Volume 33, Issue 10, October 2026.
After a recent NMOSD attack, serum GFAP and age together provide a simple and powerful way to distinguish AQP4‐IgG NMOSD from MOGAD and related disorders. In 240 patients evaluated within 90 days of an attack from a 640‐patient cohort, this combination achieved high diagnostic accuracy (AUC up to 0.95).

Dissociating Fatigue and Fatigability in Multiple Sclerosis: The Role of Cognitive Processing Speed

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Neurology, Volume 33, Issue 10, October 2026.
In people with multiple sclerosis, task‐induced fatigability normalized once cognitive load was calibrated to each patient's processing speed, whereas perceived fatigue remained elevated. Long‐term fatigue—but not fatigability—was associated with putamen and callosal atrophy, an association mediated by slowed processing speed, which emerges as a key ...

Advances in the treatment of systemic lupus erythematosus: Biologicals, small‐molecular agents, and cell‐depleting therapies coming to the clinic

open access: yesJournal of Internal Medicine, Volume 300, Issue 4, Page 461-479, October 2026.
Abstract Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE; lupus) remains a particular challenge for the practicing clinician on account of its chronic undulating and unpredictable course, its diverse manifestations, and—until recently—limited treatment options all associated with considerable downsides.
