Should thrombopoietin receptor agonists be used for chemotherapy-induced thrombocytopenia?

open access: yesResearch and Practice in Thrombosis and Haemostasis
Chemotherapy-induced thrombocytopenia (CIT) is a common complication of cancer therapy for solid tumors that results in increased bleeding risk and chemotherapy dose reductions, treatment delays, and agent discontinuation.

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Optimizing Lenvatinib Therapy for Prognostic Improvement in Advanced Thyroid Cancer

open access: yesPharmaceuticals
Radioiodine-refractory differentiated thyroid cancer (RAIR-DTC) is associated with poor prognosis and limited systemic options. This narrative review focuses on lenvatinib (LEN), a multitarget tyrosine kinase inhibitor that significantly prolongs ...

Factors modifying the response of large animals to low-intensity radiation exposure [PDF]

open access: yes, 1972
In assessing the biological response to space radiation, two of the most important modifying factors are dose protraction and dose distribution to the body.

The PI3Kδ inhibitor roginolisib (IOA‐244) preserves T‐cell function and activity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Identification of novel PI3K inhibitors with limited immune‐related adverse effects is highly sought after. We found that roginolisib and idelalisib inhibit chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) cells and Treg suppressive functions to similar extents, but roginolisib affects cytotoxic T‐cell function and promotion of pro‐inflammatory T helper subsets to a

Efficacy, toxicity, and prognostic factors of rituximab plus cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin, vincristine, and prednisone in elderly patients with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma: a single-center retrospective cohort study

open access: yesFrontiers in Oncology
BackgroundOptimizing treatment for elderly patients with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) remains clinically challenging because curative intent must be balanced against treatment-related toxicity and reduced treatment tolerance. This study aimed to

Colorectal cancer‐derived FGF19 is a metabolically active serum biomarker that exerts enteroendocrine effects on mouse liver

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Meta‐transcriptome analysis identified FGF19 as a peptide enteroendocrine hormone associated with colorectal cancer prognosis. In vivo xenograft models showed release of FGF19 into the blood at levels that correlated with tumor volumes. Tumoral‐FGF19 altered murine liver metabolism through FGFR4, thereby reducing bile acid synthesis and increasing ...

Guidelines for physical weed control research: flame weeding, weed harrowing and intra-row cultivation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
A prerequisite for good research is the use of appropriate methodology. In order to aggregate sound research methodology, this paper presents some tentative guidelines for physical weed control research in general, and flame weeding, weed harrowing and ...

Identification of serum protein biomarkers for pre‐cancerous lesions associated with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This work identified serum proteins associated with pancreatic epithelial neoplasms (PanINs) and early‐stage PDAC. Proteomics screens assessed genetically engineered mice with abundant PanINs, KPC mice (Lox‐STOP‐Lox‐KrasG12D/+ Lox‐STOP‐Lox‐Trp53R172H/+ Pdx1‐Cre) before PDAC development and also early‐stage PDAC patients (n = 31), compared to benign ...

Home-Combo: an online home-based exercise intervention for women with breast cancer undergoing neoadjuvant chemotherapy: study protocol for a 2-arm pragmatic randomized controlled trial

open access: yesFrontiers in Oncology
BackgroundChemotherapy carry side effects and potentially result in dose decreases or treatment delays of women with breast cancer (BC). Relative dose intensities of chemotherapy <85% are associated with a worse disease prognosis and lower treatment ...
