The human gut microbiome across the life course
Despite significant individual variation and continuous change throughout life, the human gut microbiome follows some life stage‐specific trends. This article provides a brief overview of how gut microbiome composition shifts across different phases of life. Created in BioRender. Özkurt, E. (2026) https://BioRender.com/8q4nrnc.

Relatively hyperbolic groups with fixed peripherals
We build quasi-isometry invariants of relatively hyperbolic groups which detect the hyperbolic parts of the group; these are variations of the stable dimension constructions previously introduced by the authors.

A Note on the continuous extensions of injective morphisms between free groups to relatively free profinite groups [PDF]
Let V be a pseudovariety of finite groups such that free groups are residually V, and let ϕ: F(A) → F(B) be an injective morphism between finitely generated free groups.

We present robust protocols for the preparation of supported lipid bilayers (SLBs) incorporating either Salmonella smooth LPS or outer membrane vesicles (OMVs). We use a combination of quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM‐D) and fluorescence microscopy to both characterize the SLBs of various compositions and to probe their interactions ...

Catalytic Oxidations in a Bio-Based Economy
The role of bio- and chemo-catalytic aerobic oxidations in the production of commodity chemicals in a bio-refinery is reviewed. The situation is fundamentally different to that in a petrochemicals refinery where the feedstocks are gaseous or liquid ...

Reconstructing enzyme evolution by protein engineering
Natural enzyme evolution can be retraced by protein engineering methods such as directed evolution, rational design, and ancestral sequence reconstruction. These approaches reveal how enzymes emerged from ligand‐binding scaffolds, developed varying substrate preferences, formed oligomeric complexes, adapted to environmental changes, and evolved novel ...

Characteristic subgroups of relatively free groups [PDF]
A simple new proof is given of a result of Vaughan-Lee which implies that if G is a relatively free nilpotent group of finite rank k and nilpotency class c with c < k then the characteristic subgroups of G are all fully invariant. It is proved that the condition c < k can be weakened to c < k + p − 2 when G has p–power exponent for some prime ...

Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.
