Representations of some relatively free groups in power series rings [PDF]

open access: yes, 1970
W. Magnus represents a free group in a formal power series ring with no relations. We obtain power series representations for certain relatively free groups by putting various relations on the set of variables of the power series.

Free-Weight Resistance Training Enhances Core Muscle Strength but Does Not Translate to Improved Athletic Performance in Adolescent Canoe/Kayak Athletes

open access: yesChildren
Background/Objectives: While previous evidence has shown that using free weights for resistance training is a more practical approach to enhancing strength, there is a relatively low prevalence of free-weight resistance training among adolescent kayak ...

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Heart rate reduction as a therapeutic goal: focus on primary prevention

open access: yesКардиоваскулярная терапия и профилактика, 2012
Recently published studies have demonstrated a direct link between heart rate (HR) and prognosis across various populations and clinical groups, including elderly people, patients with arterial hypertension, myocardial infarction, and coronary artery ...

Training-Free Group Relative Policy Optimization

open access: yesCoRR
Recent advances in Large Language Model (LLM) agents have demonstrated their promising general capabilities. However, their performance in specialized real-world domains often degrades due to challenges in effectively integrating external tools and specific prompting strategies.

Epigenetic blind spots – the role of DNA methylation dynamics in stem cell‐based models of embryogenesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.

pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...

The Formation, Stabilization Mechanism, and Environmental Impacts of Persistent Free Radicals in Soil Humic Substances

open access: yesAgronomy
Persistent free radicals (PFRs) in humic substances (HSs) are relatively stable free radicals with a longer lifespan compared to transient free radicals. These PFRs are abundant in the ecological environment, such as in soil and water.
