Comparison of Religious Teaching with Muscle Relaxation Methods on Anxiety Patients

open access: yesCaspian Journal of Neurological Sciences, 2019
Background: Anxiety in psychiatric patients is more prevalent than the general population. Non-pharmacological methods for the treatment of anxiety are beneficial to the health of the patient, but it is not clear which of these approaches are more ...

Phase Field Failure Modeling: Brittle‐Ductile Dual‐Phase Microstructures under Compressive Loading

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The approach by Amor and the approach by Miehe and Zhang for asymmetric damage behavior in the phase field method for fracture are compared regarding their fitness for microcrack‐based failure modeling. The comparison is performed for the case of a dual‐phase microstructure with a brittle and a ductile constituent.

Hybrid multiscale methods I. Hyperbolic relaxation problems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
In this paper we consider the development of hybrid numerical methods for the solution of hyperbolic relaxation problems with multiple scales. The main ingredients in the schemes are a suitable merging of probabilistic Monte Carlo methods in non stiff

Karl Popper and the Mechanisms of Hydrogen Embrittlement

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Representation of the beginning of loss of ductility rather than embrittlement. Small concentrations of hydrogen in a diffusible form within iron are well‐established to harm the mechanical integrity of steels. There are theories that attempt to explain the pernicious role of hydrogen.

Tailoring Functional Properties of Ti–Ni–Cu Shape Memory Alloy Thin Films for MEMS Actuators

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A comprehensive study of critical parameters required to develop well‐performing Ti–Ni–Cu thin film shape memory alloy microactuators is provided. Materials science and device integration aspects are integrated by addressing structural and physical relationships using complementary characterization techniques as well as a practical fabrication solution

Anger control for people with learning disabilities: a critical review [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
The literature on the use of cognitively based anger control packages of treatment for people with learning disabilities is reviewed. It is found that the experimental evidence for the effectiveness of such treatment is weak.

Current Status and Challenges in Data Collection for Aerospace Coatings Deposited by Plasma Spraying

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
An innovative approach has been integrated into the GRENAT project to optimize plasma spraying and coating performance. Raw materials are accelerated and melted in the plasma generated by torches, creating coatings. Monitoring sensors collect process data which are combined with ex situ characterization data.

A tree search approach for the solution of set problems using alternative relaxations [PDF]

open access: yes, 1988
A number of alternative relaxations for the family of set problems (FSP) in general and set covering problems (SCP) in particular are introduced and discussed.
