Making Theory Relevant [PDF]

open access: yesTeaching Sociology, 2013
This article describes and evaluates the Gender Attitude and Belief Inventory (GABI), a teaching tool designed to aid students in (a) realizing how sociological theory links to their personal beliefs and (b) exploring any combination of 11 frequently used theoretical perspectives on gender, including both conservative theories (physiological ...

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

A kontextus szerepe a tulajdonnév fordításában [The role of context in the translation of proper names]

open access: yesNévtani Értesítő, 2015
The aim of this study is to present the problems that may be raised by the translation of proper names on different levels of context, and the methods with which translators can solve these issues.

“Cool, cooler, Clooney” – A corpus-based and relevance-theoretic analysis of the superlative heading construction in German

open access: yesQuaderns de Filologia: Estudis Lingüístics
This article focuses on the intensifying schematic construction [[adj1positive] [adj1comparative] [NP]] that is strongly related to headings, as our corpus analysis reveals. A characteristic of the construction is that, although it structurally exhibits

Inhibiting stearoyl‐CoA desaturase suppresses bone metastatic prostate cancer by modulating cellular stress, mTOR signaling, and DNA damage response

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Bone metastasis in prostate cancer (PCa) patients is a clinical hurdle due to the poor understanding of the supportive bone microenvironment. Here, we identify stearoyl‐CoA desaturase (SCD) as a tumor‐promoting enzyme and potential therapeutic target in bone metastatic PCa.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

An Analysis of Asking Opinions in The Textbook and Corpora

open access: yesJurnal KATA: Penelitian tentang Ilmu Bahasa dan Sastra, 2019
The study examined the occurrences of asking opinions in the textbook and the ones in the British National Corpus (BNC). Because the expressions in the textbook occur in isolation, it does not give sufficient context in which the expressions occur.

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...
